Summary: An efficient and novel method for the synthesis of polyfunctionalized aminothioalkenes via direct C-H sulfenylation has been developed without the use of transition metals. Inexpensive and nontoxic K2CO3 was used as a catalyst under mild reaction conditions, resulting in good to excellent yields. Various analytical methods were employed to explore molecular structure, interactions, and electrostatic properties.

Summary: The structural, photophysical, and vibrational properties of a new hydroxyphenylamino Meldrum's acid derivative, HMD, were studied. Comparing experimental and theoretical vibrational spectra helps interpret IR spectra. The UV-Vis spectrum of HMD was computed and matched the experimental data. The molecular electrostatic potential analysis confirmed intermolecular hydrogen bonds in the HMD molecule, and the NBO analysis provided information about charge transfer transitions. The thermal gravimetric and non-linear optical properties of HMD were also reported.

Summary: In this study, a series of pyrene-based compounds were designed and synthesized by modifying the acceptor units of a reference compound. The calculated results showed that the designed compounds exhibited smaller energy bandgaps and larger global softness values compared to the reference. The NLO responses of the designed compounds were supported by FMO and NBO findings, indicating their enhanced linear and nonlinear properties.

Summary: Organic nonlinear optical (NLO) piperazine-1,4-diium bis (2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetate) (PDCPA) single crystals were grown using a slow evaporation technique. The crystal structure and properties were analyzed through experimental and theoretical methods, including X-ray diffraction, DFT calculations, and UV-visible transmittance spectral analysis. The NLO activity of the crystal was determined using the DFT method and Z-scan technique, while its emission behavior was studied using fluorescence spectral analysis.

Summary: The structural conformation of pyrrole-2-carboxaldehyde was evaluated using DFT computations, and the molecule was found to exhibit a more stable cis form compared to the trans form. Hydrogen bonding due to intra- and inter-molecular interactions was observed. The computational results were in good agreement with experimental data, and the molecule showed suitability for non-linear optical applications.

Summary: Here, a novel class of transition metalide compounds with excess electrons have been designed, which are considered as potential candidates for nonlinear optical materials. Theoretical studies showed that these complexes have large dipole moments, high hyperpolarizabilities, and thermodynamic stability. Furthermore, the nonlinear optical response and scattering properties of these complexes have been evaluated, confirming their unique characteristics.

Summary: A facile condensation reaction between thiosemicarbazide and furfural successfully synthesized thiosemicarbazone derivatives with good yields, which were further characterized and analyzed using spectroscopic techniques and density functional theory. The prominent hyper-conjugative interactions between structures were found to be the main reason for stability, while the descending order of energy gaps determined the electron transfer properties.

Summary: Single crystals of piperazinium hydrogenisophthalate were successfully grown by slow cooling of a saturated ethanol solution. The crystal structure of the grown crystal was revealed for the first time in this study. The crystal belongs to the monoclinic crystal system with the P2(1)/c space group. The crystal consists of piperazinium cations and hydrogenisophthalate anions linked by intermolecular and intramolecular hydrogen bonds. The grown crystal shows transparency and uniform fringes, indicating its potential for optical applications. The nonlinear optical property of the grown crystal was assessed using Z-scan study.
