Summary: The study analyzed the survival and incidence of Fontan completion in patients with single-ventricle atrioventricular septal defect. The results showed that patients with moderate-severe or severe atrioventricular valve regurgitation had a worse survival, and repairing the atrioventricular valve could improve the survival rate. This study provides important information for the diagnosis and treatment of these patients.

Summary: This study found that 12% of patients with implanted VDD pacemakers experienced loss of atrial sensing during long-term follow-up, with some requiring permanent switch to VVI mode. Electrocardiographic and echocardiographic parameters may serve as screening tools for atrial myopathy associated with loss of atrial sensing.

Summary: This study analyzed the pacing and outcomes of neonatal congenital atrioventricular block (nCAVB) with and without congenital heart disease (CHD) using a multicenter database. The results showed that the in-hospital mortality rate was 36.2% for nCAVB patients with CHD and 8.4% for those without CHD. Pacemaker placement was associated with a decreased mortality rate.

Summary: The article highlights the importance of ventricular cardiac arrhythmia and animal models in predicting drug effects, focusing on the chronic atrioventricular block (CAVB) model in dogs and summarizing its role and development in cardiovascular research. Data obtained from CAVB dogs are crucial for understanding the mechanisms of arrhythmias and drug efficacy.

Summary: A common atrioventricular valve (CAVV) in patients with functional single ventricle (FSV) is considered a risk factor for early and late deaths. CAVV surgery is challenging and associated with high mortality and reoperation rates.

Summary: Single ventricle physiology refers to congenital heart lesions that cannot support independent pulmonary and systemic circulations. Treatment strategies involve a series of surgeries that lead to Fontan physiology, relying on a single functioning ventricle for systemic circulation. Atrioventricular valve (AVV) regurgitation is a predictor of heart failure in these patients. Biomechanical changes of the AVV were evaluated using patient-derived 3D-printed mounts and an ex vivo heart simulator. The study found asymmetries in force profiles between leaflets and physiologies, suggesting the need for AVV interventions to account for these differences.

Summary: Among patients with AMI, women are more likely to have atrial fibrillation and HAVB, but lower rates of early ventricular tachyarrhythmia compared to men. Early and late VTAs, AF, and HAVB are associated with increased 30-day mortality, while only late VTA and AF are linked to post-30-day mortality.

Summary: This study validated the Technical Performance Score (TPS) as a predictor of short- and long-term outcomes after the Norwood procedure. The results showed an association between TPS and reintervention risk, hospital length of stay, and transplant-free survival. Patients with no residual lesions had improved long-term prognosis, suggesting TPS may help identify high-risk patients for closer monitoring and potential early intervention.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the long-term outcomes of patients with congenital and childhood complete atrioventricular block (CCAVB/CAVB) after pacemaker implantation. The results showed that the overall mortality rate was 5.7%, with an incidence of pacing-induced cardiomyopathy (PICM) at 3.8%. Diagnosis at birth, the presence of congenital heart disease, younger age at pacemaker implantation, and longer duration of pacing were associated with a higher mortality rate.

Summary: The optimal management of intrauterine tachyarrhythmias is still not well-established. Thorough evaluation of both the fetus and the mother is crucial prior to medication initiation. Different medications may be recommended for different types of tachyarrhythmias. However, these data require further validation through larger studies and should be handled with caution.

Summary: This study reviewed the outcomes of atrioventricular valve (AVV) repair in infants undergoing single-ventricle (SV) palliative surgery, indicating that AVV repair is associated with transplant-free survival, mortality, and reoperation rates. Early repair and reduced systemic ventricle function are linked with poor outcomes. Different approaches may be needed for high-risk patients to improve outcomes.

Summary: Most pregnant women with AVB can have successful pregnancy and delivery. Patients with II degrees AVB and III degrees AVB should be monitored vigilantly during pregnancy and post-partum. Temporary pacing before delivery appeared to be beneficial for women with III degrees AVB, and accurate diagnosis and care by a multidisciplinary team was recommended.

Summary: Atrialventricular block of unknown etiology in young patients is rare, and this study aimed to assess the long-term outcomes in this group. The findings showed that young patients with AVB of unknown etiology treated with pacemaker implantation had a significantly higher rate of adverse outcomes compared to controls, with those with persistent AVB at higher risk. These results highlight the need for improved follow-up strategies for young patients with AVB of unknown etiology.

Summary: This study found that congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries (ccTGA) is not always a sporadic congenital heart defect. There is evidence of familial clusters and an association between ccTGA, dextro-transposition of the great arteries, laterality defects, and in some cases primary ciliary dyskinesia, suggesting a common pathogenetic pathway involving laterality genes in the pathophysiology of ccTGA.
