Summary: Traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) have been widely used in clinical and healthcare applications. The characterization of the phytochemical components in TCMs is important for studying their therapeutic mechanism. Chromatography combined with mass spectrometry techniques, such as gas chromatography-MS and liquid chromatography-MS, are commonly used for the analysis of trace components in TCM samples. This article also introduces a new ambient ionization MS method for rapid and high-throughput analysis of TCM components.

Summary: This study analyzed the constituents of different parts of Marsdenia tenacissima using a combinatorics-based chemical characterization strategy. The roots, stems, and leaves of M. tenacissima showed similar antioxidant activity but differed in their α-glucosidase inhibitory activity. The study also identified tenacissoside H as a critical indicator component for quality evaluation, with significantly higher levels in the roots compared to the stems.

Summary: The objective of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Shenkang injection combined with alprostadil in treating chronic renal failure. The results showed that the treatment group had a higher overall response rate compared to the control group, and also showed significant improvements in creatinine clearance rate, serum creatinine, quantitative urine protein, and blood urea nitrogen. There was no statistical difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups. Further large-scale clinical trials are needed to verify its specific efficacy and safety.
