Maternal and neonatal outcomes in pregnant women with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: Pregnant women with psoriasis and PsA have a higher risk of adverse maternal outcomes, but not adverse neonatal outcomes. Close monitoring of the mothers' clinical status before and during pregnancy is recommended.

Summary: This study reviewed disease activity during pregnancy and adverse pregnancy outcomes in women with PsA, showing postpartum worsening of disease activity but no increased risk of gestational diabetes, small for gestational age, and low birth weight. PsA pregnancies may have a higher risk of preeclampsia, elective cesarean section, and preterm birth.

Maternal Interleukin-17 and disease activity influence pregnancy outcomes in women with psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of maternal interleukin-17A and disease activity on pregnancy outcomes in Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and ankylosing spondylitis (AS) patients. The results showed that PsA and AS patients were more prone to preterm labor, oligohydramnios, caesarean delivery, and delivering infants small for gestational age. There was a significant difference in IL-17A levels between the study group and the control group.

Summary: The study aimed to understand the clinical characteristics, treatment strategies, and outcomes of early PsA patients. Results showed that while axial involvement rate increased over time, dactylitis and nail involvement rates significantly increased after 10 years from diagnosis, and enthesitis and deformity had an increasing trend over time.

Pregnancy, delivery, and neonatal outcomes among women with psoriatic arthritis, a population based study

Summary: A retrospective population-based study was conducted to evaluate the effects of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) on pregnancy outcomes. The study found that women with PsA were more likely to experience pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH) and have babies with small for gestational age (SGA), but there were no significant differences in other outcomes.

Summary: Enthesitis is common in Chinese patients with PsA, and it is important to evaluate both peripheral and axial sites. Compared with other cohorts, Chinese patients with enthesitis tend to be younger, have a lower body mass index, a higher rate of positive HLA-B27, more frequent dactylitis, and a higher proportion of csDMARDs use.

The results showed a significant association between sonographic enthesitis and sonographic synovitis and tenosynovitis, and the severity of sonographic enthesitis may be a marker for inflammatory activity in other musculoskeletal domains.

Summary: This retrospective observational study aimed to report the long-term disease activity index for Psoriatic Arthritis (DAPSA) response of apremilast in PsA patients and analyze the predictors of clinical response. The study found that almost half of the PsA patients receiving apremilast achieved DAPSA low disease activity or remission at 6 and 12 months. Baseline DAPSA was the only factor associated with achieving low disease activity or remission at both 6 and 12 months.

Additionally, non-criteria APS and criteria APS patients may have similar rates of obstetric complications with standard and/or non-standard APS treatment regimens.

Summary: Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by vascular thrombosis and pregnancy morbidity. The current treatment options have limitations, and there is a need for more targeted therapies. Researchers developed a modified protein variant using site-specific chemical addition of polyethylene glycol (PEG), which effectively inhibited thrombus formation caused by pathogenic antibodies. These findings provide further evidence supporting the potential efficacy of PEG-modified protein as a treatment option for APS.

Antibodies to FXa and thrombin in patients with SLE differentially regulate C3 and C5 cleavage

Summary: The significance of antibodies directed against activated factor X (FXa) and thrombin (Thr) in patients with SLE and/or antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is unknown. This study found that aThr IgG increased Thr-mediated activation of C3 and C5, while aFXa IgG did not increase C3 or C5 activation. Structural analysis suggested that aFXa IgG may have a higher likelihood of steric hindrance on FXa compared to the AT-Thr-aThr IgG complex. Although there was no significant association between positivity for aFXa or aTHr IgG and C3 levels or disease activity, there was a trend for patients positive for aFXa IgG alone or both aFXa and aThr IgG to have lower levels of C3.
