The sandwich structured FeS2-graphite composites have been firstly developed for the application as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries. XRD and TEM techniques reveal that FeS2 nanoparticles are intercalated into the interlayer of graphite and well dispersed. Assured by the combined advantages of high capacity of FeS2, high conductivity of graphite, and specific sandwiched structures, the obtained composite anode materials deliver excellent electrochemical lithium storage properties, such as high reversible capacity (640 mAh g(-1) at 100 mA g(-1)), stable cyclic performance and long cyclic life (capacity retention of 89% over 1000 cycles at 1 A g(-1)), as well as good rate capability.
