Summary: Maintaining the integrity of articular cartilage is crucial for joint health and function. This study successfully regenerated hyaline cartilage by incorporating RGD peptide into a chondroitin sulfate-based cryogel. By adjusting the concentration of RGD, chondrocyte redifferentiation was promoted, leading to the formation of hyaline cartilage tissue.

Summary: The application of mesenchymal stromal/stem cells (MSCs) and their exosomes in treating degenerative diseases, especially intervertebral disc disease (IDD), shows promising results. MSCs exert therapeutic effects by differentiating, reducing apoptosis, increasing proliferation, and decreasing senescence in nucleus pulposus cells (NPCs). The application of MSCs and their exosomes also affects annulus fibrosus and cartilaginous endplate cells, preventing the progression of disc degeneration.

Summary: The innovative multifunctional PLGA/Mg porous scaffolds designed for comprehensive postsurgical management of Osteosarcoma demonstrated excellent capabilities in suppressing tumor recurrence and promoting bone regeneration. The scaffolds were fabricated using low temperature rapid prototyping technology with biomimetic hierarchical porous structures to structurally promote bone regeneration. The scaffolds also exhibited excellent biodegradability and biocompatibility, showing great promise for clinical translation.

Summary: The study developed a three-dimensional spheroid culture method for NPC spheroids and found them to have superior self-renewal and ECM synthesis capacities compared to monolayer-cultured NPCs. In vivo, NPC spheroids promoted NP regeneration in a disc degeneration model induced by partial NP excision, potentially through the regulation of N-CDH and ITG beta 1 interaction-mediated ECM homeostasis.

Summary: Intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration starts in the central nucleus pulposus (NP) causing inflammation and extracellular matrix degradation, requiring early treatment. This study explored the use of peptide GO hybrid hydrogels as a vehicle for TGF-P3 delivery, showing potential for improving disc degeneration.

Summary: A self-adaptive functional tissue engineering scaffold is developed by integrating MoO(3-)x subnanometric wires onto 3D printing bioactive glass scaffolds to address the challenges of residual tumor cells and bone tissue defects in clinical osteosarcoma treatment. The scaffold can aggregate in an acidic tumor microenvironment and react with hydrogen peroxide to provide specific chemodynamic therapy, while also enhancing tumor-targeting photothermal therapy. Furthermore, it promotes bone mesenchymal stem cell differentiation and proliferation, as well as osteogenesis in bone defects.

Summary: Injectable hydrogels reinforced with silk fibroin nanofibers were used to remodel degenerative nucleus pulposus. The composite hydrogel showed excellent compressive strength and leak-proof delivery, and the nanofibers provided support and facilitated cell proliferation. In a rat model, the nanofiber-reinforced hydrogel significantly reduced intervertebral disc degeneration.

Summary: This study aimed to prepare an active per se drug delivery system by combining sericin and crocetin to regenerate damaged intervertebral disk. The results showed that the system had good effects in combating oxidative stress and protecting intervertebral disk cells. Therefore, these active drug delivery systems have the potential to be used in the treatment or prevention of intervertebral disk degeneration.

Summary: In this study, a bioactive composite ink was formed by combining natural diatomite microparticles with gelatin methacryloyl hydrogel. The resulting inorganic/organic composite scaffolds, prepared using 3D printing technology, showed enhanced cellular activities and accelerated wound healing in burn injuries, due to the release of bioactive silicon ions from the diatomite particles. This study demonstrates the potential of using diatomite as a cost-effective biocompatible silicon source for wound dressings.
