Summary: T cells are crucial in controlling cancer, however, immune checkpoint blockers (ICB) only benefit a subset of patients. Research efforts are now focused on targeting multiple inhibitory signals in the tumor microenvironment (TME) to improve patient outcomes. Adenosine is a potent immune suppressor in the TME, and CD73 is responsible for its production. CD73 inhibitors, such as AB680, can restore T-cell function dampened by CD73-produced adenosine and enhance the effectiveness of ICB.
