Summary: PPFC is a commonly used anthelmintic treatment for canine gastrointestinal parasites with mild adverse effects. However, in this case, a Chihuahua developed acute pancreatitis after receiving PPFC, possibly due to a decrease in liver function and/or increase in lipase activity. The treatment was discontinued due to financial reasons, highlighting the importance of considering underlying disorders when administering medications to dogs.

Summary: The efficacy of an oral endectoparasiticide product combining moxidectin, afoxolaner, and pyrantel pamoate was evaluated for the prevention of heartworm disease in dogs. Laboratory and field studies showed that monthly administration of the product for at least six doses is effective at preventing dirofilariosis.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate if CBD bioavailability increases after oral transmucosal administration compared to oral treatment. The results showed that there was no significant difference in CBD bioavailability between oral transmucosal administration and oral treatment, suggesting that CBD is not absorbed by the oral mucosa and is instead swallowed and absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract.

Summary: Frunevetmab shows promise in providing pain relief for cats with joint diseases, with favorable pharmacokinetics and low immunogenicity. The drug demonstrated good bioavailability and a long half-life, leading to sustained levels in the plasma. Additionally, the low incidence of immunogenicity highlights the safety profile of frunevetmab in feline patients.

Summary: Chromium (Cr) is essential for carbohydrate, lipid, and protein metabolisms in humans and animals. Chromium-enriched yeast (CrY) is a commonly used dietary supplement but its pharmacokinetics remains unclear. This study found that CrY was rapidly absorbed into the blood and slowly eliminated after oral administration in rats, which could lead to the accumulation of chromium in vivo.

Summary: Infection with the stomach worm Physaloptera spp. in dogs can cause chronic vomiting, and diagnosis is often difficult. A higher dose and longer duration of fenbendazole in combination with pyrantel pamoate is recommended for treatment. Reinfection is common in some dogs and should not be viewed as treatment failure.

Summary: The pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic studies revealed non-linear and dose-disproportional pharmacokinetics of enrofloxacin in brown trout. Single oral administration of 10 and 20 mg/kg of enrofloxacin provided long duration of action, potentially reducing handling and stress in brown trout. Further research is needed for successful treatment of infections caused by Aeromonas hydrophila and A. sobria in brown trout.

Summary: The study investigated the exposure-response relationships of letermovir in CMV prophylaxis, finding no significant impact of exposure on efficacy and onset time of clinically significant CMV infection. Adverse event incidence was also not found to be dependent on letermovir exposure. These results support the current dosing recommendations in various countries and regions.

Summary: Esafoxolaner, eprinomectin, and praziquantel in NexGard((R)) Combo showed effective parasiticidal properties in cats, with rapid onset, sustained efficacy, and no relevant interference observed. Dose proportionality was demonstrated and steady state was reached after repeated monthly administrations with limited accumulation and safe drug plasma concentrations.

Summary: The present study investigated the pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution of sarafloxacin hydrochloride in the pacific white shrimp. Results showed rapid absorption of the drug after oral administration, with accumulation observed in the hepatopancreas. The hepatopancreas played an important role in drug metabolism. Based on the findings, a withdrawal period of 4 days after the last oral medication was recommended.

Summary: Giant pandas in China are at risk from the parasitic nematode Baylisascaris schroederi. A study tested four anthelmintics on 22 giant pandas and found that pyrantel pamoate may be ineffective. The study highlights the importance of monitoring and managing anthelmintic resistance to protect giant pandas.

Summary: Marbofloxacin is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone commonly used in livestock. This study evaluated the pharmacokinetic properties and dosage regimens of marbofloxacin in goats. The results showed that the dosage regimen of 10 mg/kg/24 h was adequate for certain pathogens but ineffective against Staphylococcus aureus. The findings can be used to optimize marbofloxacin dose regimens and set clinical breakpoints.
