Summary: We developed a prognostic tool for treatment resistant schizophrenia (TRS) using a large and diverse clinical cohort from four London boroughs. Predictors of TRS included number of inpatient days before and after the first antipsychotic, amount of face-to-face clinical contact prior to the first antipsychotic, minor cognitive problems, and younger age at the time of the first antipsychotic.

Summary: This study assessed the characteristics and variation of endpoints used in trials supporting FDA approval of medications for migraine treatment. The findings revealed inconsistent endpoint selection within the same indication, mechanistic class, and route of administration, making it difficult to directly compare these medications. Inconsistent definitions for episodic and chronic migraine were also observed.

Summary: By anchoring sub-nanometer Co clusters on porous nitrogen-doped carbon, a non-invasive sensor for clozapine detection is successfully prepared. The Co clusters provide enhanced electrochemical performance and better substrate adsorption potential. The developed sensing system allows for monitoring of clozapine in various body fluid environments, and the correlation between blood and saliva is investigated.

Summary: This study investigated the utility of a finger prick method for full blood counts (FBC) in clozapine patients. The results showed that the point of care testing (POCT) finger prick method provided comparable results to the standard laboratory venous method. The availability of an accurate capillary monitoring method may improve clozapine uptake and adherence.

Summary: Cancer drug resistance is a major factor in treatment failure, with CYP450 playing a crucial role in its development. Monitoring CYP450 levels can assess tumor cell responses to drugs and improve treatment outcomes. The synergistic effect of 1-ABT and cisplatin may have superior results in cancer therapy.

Summary: This study investigated the usefulness of a molecular classifier tool and genetic alterations in predicting prognosis in Japanese patients with endometrial cancer. The results showed that patients with DNA polymerase epsilon exonuclease domain mutation had the best prognosis, while those with no specific molecular profile and mismatch repair protein deficiency had intermediate prognosis, and those with protein 53 abnormal expression had the worst prognosis. The study also demonstrated the association between genomic characteristics and prognosis.

Summary: Water quality is crucial for human and ecosystem health. This study aimed to develop a sensitive and selective methodology to create a customized portable device that can detect emerging pollutants in water. The results showed that this methodology allows for simpler and cheaper decentralized analysis without losing sensitivity. It also enables real-time electrochemical measurements without the need for sample treatment. The portable device offers comfort and high specificity in monitoring and improving water quality.

Summary: In this study, a methodology and set of metrics are proposed for the objective comparison of in-situ monitoring systems in additive manufacturing processes. The comparison between photodiodes and high-speed cameras showed that the camera-based system offers a better trade-off between detection and false alarms in detecting part-wide porosity increases.ROC and POD curves were used to quantify the detection capabilities of the two systems, with the camera-based system outperforming the photodiode system in most cases.

Summary: Decellularized corneas provide a promising and sustainable source for replacement grafts, reducing the risk of immune rejection. Evaluating the quality of decellularized extracellular matrix is challenging due to the lack of consensus on assessment criteria. This study developed a computational method using machine learning algorithms to assess decellularization efficiency and identified regions of interest in acellularized corneal tissue with high accuracy, providing a platform for evaluating functional changes in decellularized scaffolds.

The results showed that low-dose quetiapine was associated with increased triglycerides and decreased high-density lipoprotein in all subjects, as well as increased HbA1c, total cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein among those with normal baseline values.

Summary: Psychosocial interventions play an important role in schizophrenia and early psychosis. However, the literature on this topic is heterogeneous and contradictory. This umbrella review summarizes the findings from multiple meta-analyses comparing the effectiveness of different psychosocial interventions with standard treatment or other active interventions. The results suggest that early intervention services and cognitive behavioral therapy have significant effects on symptom reduction and functional improvement in early psychosis. For schizophrenia patients, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychoeducation, and any family interventions show positive effects on symptom reduction, relapse prevention, and functional improvement.

Summary: People with mood disorders are at increased risk of comorbid medical diseases. Interventions such as psychological therapies, exercise, and certain medications can improve physical health outcomes in mood disorders, but some medications may have negative effects. It is important to consider evidence from other disorders and individual RCTs when prioritizing effective treatments with beneficial or physically neutral profiles.

Summary: Neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and intellectual disability can be identified early in development. However, there is a lack of valid and reliable biomarkers for the timely diagnosis of these disorders. A systematic review of studies on candidate diagnostic biomarkers for these disorders in children and adolescents found that none of the biomarkers met the criteria of specificity and sensitivity of at least 80% in two or more independent studies. Future research should focus on multivariable and multi-level approaches to identify valid candidate biomarkers.

Summary: This meta-analysis examines weight and metabolic effects during olanzapine treatment in patients with first-episode psychosis or early-phase schizophrenia. The results show that olanzapine is consistently associated with weight gain, especially in studies lasting more than 13 weeks. Metabolic changes observed suggest that randomized controlled trials may underestimate the metabolic sequelae compared to real-world treatment observations.

Summary: No systematic review has estimated the consistency and magnitude of the risk of developing bipolar disorder I-II in individuals at clinical high risk for bipolar disorder. This pre-registered systematic review included 13 studies reporting on nine prospective independent cohorts. The results show that the risk of developing bipolar disorder I/II ranges from 7.1% to 23.4% after 2 years, with higher risks for BD-I and BD-NOS subgroups.

Summary: This network meta-analysis suggests that high-dose EPA-dominant omega-3 PUFAs may have potential benefits in improving cognitive function in patients with Alzheimer's dementia. Omega-3 PUFAs have similar acceptability and safety profiles compared to placebo. Summary: This study investigated the relationship between drug dose and serum concentration of fluoxetine in children and adolescents and established the therapeutic serum reference range. The study found a positive correlation between dose and serum concentration of fluoxetine and its metabolite, with higher body weight and female sex associated with lower serum concentrations and therapeutic response. Most patients showed marked or minimal improvements during treatment, with no reported adverse effects.
