Summary: This study found spousal concordance of cardiovascular risk factors among young newly married couples. Assortative mating based on these concordant risk factors at the time of marriage may partially explain the shared vascular risk profile of older marital partners and raises the possibility of couple-based care.

Summary: In South Asia, spouses often provide different responses regarding household asset ownership and decision making. Wives are more likely to report their own participation in these matters, especially in joint households. The discordance in responses is correlated with some improved measures of wives' well-being.

Summary: The study showed that spousal concordance was strongest in behavioral risk factors, but weakened when moving downstream in the causal cascade leading to type 2 diabetes. Public health prevention strategies may benefit from targeting spousal similarities in health-related behaviors and diabetes risk factors for more effective interventions.

Summary: The meta-analysis study revealed a significant association between noise exposure and cardiovascular disease, as well as a significant difference between sound intensity and blood pressure. It is important to study and identify jobs or living environments with noise levels lower than recommended standards, and to address issues related to over-exposure, such as cardiovascular disease.

Summary: Environmental and socioeconomic risk factors have a significant impact on the occurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Low education level, race (Black, Hispanic, and Asian), low to medium income, occupations (farmer and laborer), passive smoking, rural residence, blood aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) adduct level, and pesticide exposure are associated with an increased risk of HCC. On the other hand, 6-9 years, 9-12 years, and ≥12 years of education are associated with a reduced risk of HCC.

Summary: The study analyzed the adoption behavior of farmers towards pro-environmental agricultural technology through meta-analysis, finding that influencing factors are not completely homogeneous. Age, income, and land transfer have significant impacts on adoption, while factors like household size and village cadres have minimal influence. Policy design should consider various factors such as geographical differences, farmer needs, and costs.

Summary: This study used a systematic and meta-analysis approach to investigate the association between cadmium exposure and blood pressure/hypertension. The findings suggest a positive relationship between blood and hair cadmium levels and hypertension, and indicate that hair is the optimal biological sample for assessing this relationship for both genders.

Summary: Research has shown that both social and asocial environmental factors significantly affect learning in various species, but the effects are highly variable and may not always align with predictions. The type (social or asocial) and length of interventions are key factors in determining the strength of the effect.

Summary: The review systematically reviewed the relationship between traffic-related environmental factors and childhood obesity and found that long-term traffic pollution is weakly positively associated with children's BMI growth, while traffic flow, pollution, and noise could affect weight-related behaviors. However, associations between traffic density and noise and weight status are still inconclusive.

Summary: This systematic review found that exposure to air pollutants, especially PM2.5 and NO2, may increase the risk of age-related cognitive impairment and dementia, while more social contact and green spaces could be protective factors. More research is needed to determine the associations with other environmental factors.

Summary: Garlic is commonly used in cooking and traditional medicine in Asian countries, and its potential preventive effects on cardiovascular diseases have attracted growing attention. Previous studies have reviewed the association between garlic intake and cardiovascular diseases, but consistent conclusions have not been reached. New clinical trials are being conducted to provide more solid evidence.
