Summary: This study investigates the annihilation electrochemiluminescence (ECL) of [Ru(bpy)3]2+ using a deep eutectic solvent (DES) based on choline chloride (ChCl) and lactic acid (LA) for the first time. The intense annihilation ECL is achieved by the oxidation and reduction reactions of [Ru(bpy)3]2+ in the DES. Furthermore, this annihilation ECL system is integrated into chitosan (CS) to form an ionic gel, which exhibits bright light emission in ECL devices (ECLDs).

Summary: An ECL sensor based on molecular imprinting polymer and SiO2 nanoparticles loaded Ru(bpy)(3) and nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots (NCQDs) is developed for citrinin detection. The sensor shows high sensitivity, stability, and reproducibility, with a linear relationship between ECL intensity and citrinin concentration in the range of 1.0 to 100 pg mL(-1). The detection limit is 5 fg mL(-1). When applied to food sample analysis, the sensor demonstrates a low RSD and high recovery rates. This work provides a promising alternative for citrinin detection.

Summary: In this study, a novel double-quenching electrochemical luminescence (ECL) strategy based on the double-quenching effect of Ru(bpy)32+-functionalized three-dimensional metal-organic framework (MOF) by MnO2/ PDA was proposed. An ECL immunosensor for ultrasensitive detection of alphafetoprotein (AFP) was designed. This work demonstrates the detection and application of a signal-quenched ECL immunosensor and ECL immunoassay based on a luminescence-functionalized MOF system for biomarker detection. It indicates a great prospect in the analysis of other biomarkers and clinical analysis.

Summary: The development of potential resolved electrochemiluminescence (ECL) nanoluminophores is crucial for precise and multiplex analysis. In this study, a new nanoluminophore TCPP@CRuSiO2 was designed and synthesized, which exhibited both cathode and anode ECL emissions. The nanoluminophores had a uniform sphere morphology with a diameter of around 50 nm. They generated two ECL emissions at different potentials using K2S2O8 and tripropylamine (TPrA) as coreactants. The ECL mechanisms were proposed based on the reactions between different species. The synthesized TCPP@CRuSiO2 nanoluminophores not only possessed potential and wavelength resolved ECL emissions, but also showed advantages of easy synthesis, high ECL efficiency, good stability, and easy film formation on the electrode surface. This work enriches the study of ECL nanoluminophores and has important potential applications in precise and multiplex analysis.

Summary: An ultrasensitive PAT ratiometric aptasensor based on the dual-potential electrochemiluminescence of Ru(bpy)32+ was proposed for sensitive monitoring of trace-level PAT. The aptasensor integrated Ru@Tri nanocube as the cathodic coreaction accelerator and anth-CQDs@SiO2 as the anodic coreactant, allowing for the establishment of a novel ternary ECL system. The proposed method showed a low detection limit of 0.05 pg mL-1 and demonstrated practical applicability by comparing the results with HPLC analysis of fruit products.
