Summary: The geographic specificity of natal philopatry plays a crucial role in breeding biology, genetic diversity, and habitat range, while the age at maturity is a vital parameter for demographic analyses. This study focused on kinship among female sea turtles to address gaps in knowledge, demonstrating the importance of such information for endangered species conservation.

Summary: This study examines whether migratory monarch butterflies use inherited geomagnetic cues to locate their overwintering sites. The findings suggest that despite significant shifts in the geomagnetic field, the monarchs continue to overwinter at established sites, indicating that they may use geomagnetic cues to assess migratory direction and rely on other cues to find specific locations.

Summary: The potential effects of climate change on living species, particularly those with temperature-dependent sex determination, are widely debated. This study evaluated the temporal variation in sex ratios of green turtles in the Southwest Atlantic Ocean and found a female-skewed population trend. Additionally, the study identified different natal origins for female and male green turtles in the region, with Ascension Island being the main source of females and Guinea Bissau being the main source of males.

Summary: This article studies a bionic navigation method inspired by magnetotaxis behavior for long-range underwater navigation. By utilizing geomagnetic gradient to optimize the navigation path and constraining the sample space in evolutionary algorithm, the reliability and accuracy of the navigation path are improved. The simulation results demonstrate significant enhancements in the navigation efficiency and straightness, especially in geomagnetic anomaly areas.

Summary: This letter proposes an improved geomagnetic navigation method based on two-component gradient weighting (TCGW), which calculates the geomagnetic components using roll angle and pitch angle, and uses gradient weights to improve accuracy and universality. Simulations and experiments show that the proposed method has higher matching accuracy.

Summary: This article presents a bioinspired integrated navigation system (BINS) to improve the environmental adaptability. A bioinspired integrated navigation algorithm is proposed to fuse the information of polarized skylight, geomagnetic field, inertia, and global navigation satellite system. The relationship among ambient light intensity, degree of polarization, and accuracy of polarization compass is revealed. A tightly coupled integrated navigation model is developed to fuse the information of polarization compass and magnetometer.

Summary: By addressing the issue of divergence in geomagnetic matching navigation algorithms for hypersonic vehicles, a multi-geomagnetic-component assisted localization (MCAL) algorithm is proposed to improve positioning accuracy. By using intersections of geomagnetic components' isopleths and a decision method to estimate the real position of a carrier, the algorithm can provide higher positioning accuracy. Simulation results show that the MCAL algorithm outperforms conventional geomagnetic matching algorithms.

Summary: The study conducted geomagnetic research at the Tonle Bak site in Cambodia, recovering geomagnetic information from the 11th to 14th centuries. It revealed a sharp change in the geomagnetic field between 1200 and 1300 CE, providing evidence for the possible existence of low-latitude flux expulsion. The study suggests a new focus on detailed geomagnetic research in low-latitude areas around the equator and exploration of related dynamic processes.
