Summary: Broadband NIR pc-LEDs are crucial for integrating NIR spectrometers into mobile devices for rapid and noninvasive detection of biological components. However, efficient broadband NIR phosphors with a peak emission wavelength longer than 800 nm are lacking. In this study, a CaMgGe2O6:Cr3+ phosphor was prepared and used to fabricate a high-performance broadband NIR pc-LED, achieving the highest reported photoelectric efficiency and NIR output power for pc-LEDs with a peak wavelength longer than 800 nm. The results demonstrate the considerable potential of CaMgGe2O6:Cr3+ phosphor in NIR spectroscopic applications.

Summary: Cadmium oxide (CdO) photocatalysts prepared by co-precipitation with calcination and Al3+ doping showed enhanced photocatalytic activity for the degradation of methylene blue dye. The synthesized CdO samples had a single phase polycrystalline structure with suitable crystallite size. The presence of Al3+ dopant in CdO lattice was confirmed and the morphology of the samples exhibited active sites for photocatalytic process. The CdO nanoparticles with Al doping exhibited higher visible-light-driven photocatalytic activity compared to pure CdO.

Summary: The study found that tri-inoculant (SRA) application can enhance the growth and drought tolerance of maize under water deficit conditions. The physical and physico-biochemical characteristics of the maize, including root and shoot length, fresh weight, dry weight, and membrane electrolyte leakage, were significantly improved by SRA inoculation. SRA-inoculated maize also exhibited higher antioxidant enzyme activities. These findings suggest that SRA application has multiple advantages for maize growth and may have potential for boosting the growth of other crops in the future against various environmental challenges.

Summary: Albugo candida is a pathogenic fungus that causes white rust on Brassicaceae crops. It infects the aerial parts of the plants, including leaves, and causes the formation of white or creamy yellow blisters. Disease management strategies such as fungicide treatments and breeding disease-resistant varieties have been used. However, the high variability among A. candida isolates makes it difficult to understand the diverse symptoms of the disease.
