Summary: Nuclear energy dominates the global primary energy mix but releases volatile nuclear wastes. The efficient capture of volatile radioiodine has attracted worldwide attention for its severe health and environmental effects. Researchers have reported a new benzothiazole-based covalent organic framework (COF-3) with high iodine adsorption capacity, highlighting the importance of electron rich heteroatoms and other factors such as surface area and pore volume in iodine adsorption.

Summary: This study proposes solution-processed p-type CuI TFTs and investigates the effects of thermal annealing and Al2O3 passivation layer on their electrical characteristics. Experimental results show that changes in chemical states and surface morphology have a significant impact on the performance of CuI TFTs. The Al2O3 passivation layer greatly enhances the electrical performance of CuI TFTs. Therefore, this study provides a new approach for developing next-generation complementary logic circuits.

Summary: Five new copper(I) complexes were generated and isolated as a solid via a three-component reaction. These complexes consist of dibenzohalolium cation and 1,2,4-oxadiazolate anion, with simultaneous linkage between the O,O atoms of the anion and the halogen atom. The strong three-center halogen bonding between the oxadiazolate moieties and the dibenzohalolium cation was identified as the main force in stabilizing the copper(I) complexes.

Summary: A new synthesis approach for 2-(pyrimidin-2-yl)benzoic acids has been developed based on the ring contraction of 2-carbamimidoylbenzoic acid with 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds. The obtained acids can undergo intramolecular condensation and further cyclization reactions to form diverse compounds with pyrrolidone or benzo[4,5]furo[3,2-d]pyrimidin moieties.

Summary: A novel cationic vinyl-based covalent organic framework (COF) with abundant dissociative iodide anions was synthesized by Knoevenagel condensation and the post-ionization modification (PIM) reaction. The resulting COF exhibited high specific surface area, excellent chemical stability, and high-density pyridine cations and dissociative iodide anions, enabling efficient iodine capture. This work not only provides a highly stable COF by Knoevenagel condensation and PIM reaction, but also achieves efficient I2 capture through the formation of polyiodide induced by high-density pyridine cations and extra-framework iodide ions.

Summary: In this study, a novel organic framework material (HCOF-7) was developed and demonstrated to efficiently remove iodine and iodide species in water through halogen bonding and anion exchange. The high removal efficiency under practical conditions makes HCOF-7 a promising adsorbent for water treatment.

Summary: Medi-MOF-1 is a porous Metal-Organic framework (MOF) made of Zn(II) and curcumin. The crystal obtained was characterized using powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). A micrometer-sized crystal with similar morphology was successfully obtained using the solvothermal method. Thanks to its high surface area, stability, and abundant pores, the as-synthesized Medi-MOF-1 can be used to adsorb various gases (H-2, CO2, CH4, and N-2) and iodine (I-2). The activated sample showed a high I-2 adsorption ability of 1.936 g g(-1) at room temperature through vapor diffusion. Additionally, the adsorbed I-2 could be released slowly in ethanol, indicating its potential application for iodine adsorption.

Summary: The search for new and unique polynuclear metal-oxocarboxylate clusters has led to the creation of highly connected and robust metal-organic frameworks with intriguing properties. In this study, two 2D heterometallic MOFs incorporating unprecedented Johnson-type nonanuclear Zr-oxocarboxylate clusters were successfully prepared through a specific coordination-driven cluster rearrangement process. One of the resulting frameworks shows promising potential for acetylene purification, while the other demonstrates remarkable iodine capture capacity.

Summary: Novel tea polyphenolic-copper hybrid nanoflowers were assembled in this study, showing faster growth rates compared to protein-based nanoflowers. The framework of the nanoflowers was composed of tea polyphenolic oligomers and copper phosphate crystals, providing high loading capacity for curcumin and protection from UV irradiation and thermal treatment. The controlled release of the nanoflowers could be achieved by adjusting pH conditions, making tea polyphenols a promising organic component for nanoflower generation.

Summary: The effect of potassium iodide (KI) on radioiodine uptake (RAIU) in Graves' disease (GD) patients was investigated. KI monotherapy was found to significantly suppress 24-hour RAIU compared to thiamazole (MMI) monotherapy in GD patients with appropriate iodine restriction. Furthermore, KI monotherapy showed a weak negative correlation with 24-hour RAIU, while female sex and FT3 showed a very weak positive correlation.

Summary: The effect of potassium iodide (KI) on radioiodine uptake (RAIU) before radioisotope therapy in Graves' disease (GD) patients was investigated. The study found that under appropriate iodine restriction, KI monotherapy had a stronger inhibitory effect on 24-hour RAIU in GD patients compared to thiamazole (MMI) monotherapy.
