Summary: In the context of Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS), the transportation sector is shifting towards user-centric business models that prioritize user experience and customized mobility solutions. This study proposes an auction-based mechanism and optimization models for the demand-side management of MaaS systems. The mechanism allows users to bid for mobility services based on their willingness to pay and experience-related preferences, and the optimization models aim to maximize social welfare by optimally allocating mobility resources in real-time. Extensive simulations using realistic mobility data demonstrate the benefits of the proposed mechanism.

Summary: By predicting future information for resource allocation, network performance and user experience can be improved. This paper aims to identify the key factors that affect the gain of predictive resource allocation and measure the performance improvement through the average time difference between predictive and non-predictive resource allocation. The results show that predictive resource allocation can reduce transmission time, especially when the network is busy or the cell radius is large.

Summary: Mobile augmented reality (MAR) applications are gaining attention due to enhanced capabilities provided by network and devices. However, these applications have high computational and memory requirements. Edge cloud computing is seen as a key technology to support MAR applications by offloading demanding algorithms. This paper presents an optimal edge cloud resource service decomposition that considers service composition and user mobility for efficient resource allocation. It proposes heuristic techniques, including a Simulated Annealing based mobility aware AR algorithm and a LSTM neural network, to provide real-time decision making. Numerical investigations show significant improvements compared to previous techniques.

Summary: This study analyzed the material flow in the UK transport sector using the stock-flow-service nexus, focusing on the contribution of steel consumption and accumulation in vehicles to passenger mobility. The efficiency of steel stock in cars and motorcycles decreased, while that of buses and national railways increased. The study also found that the annual fraction of flows maintaining the steel stock ranged from 3.4% to 8.2%.

Summary: With the development of 5G technology, mobile edge computing (MEC) has emerged as a way to reduce network service response latency by deploying cloudlets at 5G base stations. This paper proposes a method for service caching in MEC networks, where frequently demanded services are cached from remote clouds to cloudlets. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves at least 40% lower social cost through service caching and resource sharing among network service providers.
