Summary: A study on patients with recent-onset DCM found that 28% of patients experienced re-worsening of LVEF after initial improvement. High LGE burden, elevated B-type natriuretic peptide levels, and lower LVEF at initial LVEF recovery were independent predictors of re-worsening of LVEF in DCM patients.

Summary: This study evaluated the prognostic value of left atrial strain measured by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy. The study found that left atrial conduit strain is a strong and independent predictor of prognosis in dilated cardiomyopathy, superior to left ventricular global longitudinal strain, left ventricular ejection fraction, and left atrial volume index. Including left atrial conduit strain in the management of dilated cardiomyopathy patients should be considered to improve risk stratification.

Summary: Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging can be used to predict long-term adverse cardiac outcomes in patients with non-ischemic cardiomyopathy, with an extent of late gadolinium enhancement exceeding 12.0 %LV indicating a higher risk of major adverse cardiac events.

Summary: The study showed that in patients with apparently idiopathic nonsustained ventricular arrhythmias, a specific phenotype of LV scar characterized by a ringlike pattern is associated with malignant arrhythmic events and higher prognostic risk.

Summary: This study found differential expression of miRNAs in myocardial tissues of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Some miRNAs were found to be correlated with left ventricular mass index and late gadolinium enhancement quantification. These myocardial miRNA levels could be potential biomarkers for LV hypertrophy, fibrosis, and remodeling.

Summary: In this study, the clinical and cardiovascular magnetic resonance data of 75 patients with left ventricular noncompaction were retrospectively analyzed. The results showed a correlation between late gadolinium enhancement types and major adverse cardiovascular events. A specific ring-like pattern and involvement of the free wall or mid-wall were associated with an increased risk of adverse cardiovascular events. The extent of late gadolinium enhancement greater than 7.5% and the presence of ring-like, multiple segments, and free-wall enhancement were significantly associated with major adverse cardiovascular events.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed CMR images of 93 HCMpEF patients and 96 controls, finding significantly lower left ventricular mechanical parameters (GLS, GCS, GRS, and MCF) in the HCM group compared to controls. GLS and MCF independently predicted LGE, even in LGE-negative HCM patients. GLS and MCF may be ideal predictors for LGE.

Summary: This study indicates that patients with multiple LGE lesions in non-ischemic cardiomyopathy have a higher risk of cardiac events and poorer left ventricular reverse remodeling. The LGE pattern may be useful for improved risk stratification in patients with NICM.

Summary: This study evaluated a manual method of measuring cardiac MRI e' as a measure of diastolic dysfunction in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The results showed that cardiac MRI e' correlated with LGE and other feature tracking measures of diastolic function. It was also found to be an independent predictor of LGE >= 10% and diastolic dysfunction.

Summary: This study evaluated the relationship between atrial fibrillation and left ventricular late gadolinium enhancement in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The results showed that late gadolinium enhancement in the mid inferior interventricular septum was an independent predictor for atrial fibrillation occurrence in these patients. Combining late gadolinium enhancement in the mid inferior interventricular septum and enlarged left atrium improved the prediction of atrial fibrillation.

Summary: The study found that scar entropy and %LGE are both independent risk indicators of ventricular arrhythmias in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy patients. A high scar entropy may indicate an arrhythmogenic scar, which could be valuable for clinical assessment of ventricular arrhythmias in these patients.

Summary: Individuals of South Asian ancestry have a higher risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Coronary artery calcium volume and density can identify unique plaque characteristics in this population, providing important prognostic information. Cardiovascular risk factors are associated with CAC density and volume.

Summary: The proportion of calcified plaque in patients with ACS increased significantly with older age, with lower calcification rates in patients younger than 50 years old. A high proportion of high risk markers such as low-attenuation plaque were observed in younger patients, while CACS was found to be >0 in a large percentage of patients older than 50 years.
