Summary: Using the passive seismic standing waves method, a successful mapping of the Barsukovskaya karst cave in Novosibirsk, Russia was conducted. A map of the lowest mode frequency distribution over the cave roof was constructed through areal passive seismic survey, showing consistency with the cave diagram drawn up earlier by speleologists.

Summary: This study presents the results of a geophysical survey conducted on the Sukhumi Lighthouse, which was built in 1861. The survey determined the stress-strain state, residual resource, tension of the fastening cables, fixation of piles in the ground (rigid/nonrigid), and immersion depth of the lighthouse. The passive seismic standing method and the tapping method were used to extract natural vibrations and record reflected seismic waves for analysis.

Summary: Developing a new method to identify and locate underground cavities is crucial for urban development and civil engineering. By detecting the Finite-interval Spectral Power of seismic ambient noise, it is possible to use single-station measurements to find the location of cavities on the Earth's free surface. This method has been tested in Hungary and is ready for further testing in various cavity conditions and applications.

Summary: Salt structures are commonly found in basins globally and have significant implications in understanding tectonic movements and hydrocarbon trapping. However, mapping these complex structures using seismic methods is challenging, especially when an evaporitic layer forms over salt. This study investigates the elastic properties of thin evaporitic caprocks through controlled experiments and field surveys, highlighting the importance of considering complex mode conversions on top of the salt in seismic velocity model building and imaging.

Summary: Underground mining engineering induces complex three-dimensional stress changes, disrupts the original stress balance, and causes deformation, fracturing, and ground subsidence. A large-scale three-dimensional physical similarity model was developed to study the mining process of coal seams, revealing evident fractured fields around the goaf. The research results can provide valuable references for the stability of deep underground projects such as coal mining, tunnel excavation, and nuclear waste storage.

Summary: In this study, a gas-spring with adjustable nonlinear capacity is introduced into a conventional linear dynamic vibration absorber to form a nonlinear gas-spring dynamic vibration absorber for structural seismic response control. The mechanical properties of the symmetrical combined gas-spring system are studied through theoretical analysis and model tests. Shaking table tests are conducted to investigate the control effect and nonlinear damping mechanism of the gas-spring DVA, and a numerical model is established and validated by experimental results.

Summary: This paper presents a novel compact diplexer based on mixed-mode isosceles right triangular (IRT) substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavities. A dual-mode IRT SIW junction cavity is direct-coupled with two single-mode IRT SIW cavities for lower and upper channels, respectively. The diplexer has two third-order filtering channels, centered at 16 and 18.3 GHz with 400 and 422 MHz bandwidths. The in-band measured return and insertion losses are 19 dB/1.3 dB in the lower band and 17 dB/1.36 dB in the upper band. Due to the orthogonality of TE102 and TE201 modes in dual-mode IRT SIW cavity, high isolation (>45 dB) between two channels is obtained. Besides, the proposed diplexer based on the triangular SIW cavity also has advantages of low cost and easy integration with other planar circuits.
