Summary: In this study, it was demonstrated that ammonium tetrathiomolybdate (TM) has antioxidative effects and mitigates cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury (AKI). TM activates the NRF2 pathway by inhibiting NRF2 ubiquitination and promotes the expression of target genes in HK-2 cells. Furthermore, TM selectively activates the NRF2 pathways in the liver and kidney. Therefore, TM may be a promising therapeutic agent for cisplatin-induced AKI.

Summary: In this study, the protective effect of the antioxidant 7-hydroxycoumarin (7-HC) against cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury was investigated. Results showed that 7-HC prevented kidney dysfunction and tissue injury, suppressed oxidative stress and inflammation, and modulated several signaling pathways. Molecular docking revealed the potential binding of 7-HC to specific proteins involved in these pathways.

Summary: Cisplatin, a platinum-based cytostatic drug used for cancer treatment, can cause nephrotoxicity by damaging renal mitochondria and mtDNA. This study found that exposure to cisplatin increased lipid peroxidation and induced damage to renal mtDNA. On the other hand, methylene blue protected kidney mitochondria by activating the Nrf2/ARE signaling pathway and promoting the expression of antioxidant genes and genes related to mtDNA repair. This research highlights the significance of using methylene blue to protect kidney mitochondria from cisplatin-induced damage in medicine.

Summary: Chemotherapy-induced kidney damage, particularly in the context of CFZ treatment, remains a significant concern in cancer therapy. This study investigated the potential protective effect of Thymoquinone (TQ) against CFZ-induced nephrotoxicity in rats. The findings demonstrated that TQ administration significantly mitigated the negative effects of CFZ treatment on kidney function and oxidative stress, suggesting that TQ may serve as a potential therapeutic agent for preventing CFZ-induced kidney damage.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between ER stress proteins (GRP78/BiP and PERK) and oxidative stress markers in cisplatin and gentamicin-induced nephrotoxicity. The results showed that prolonged administration of cisplatin and gentamicin exacerbated oxidative stress, inflammation, and ER stress, leading to kidney damage. It is recommended to use cisplatin and gentamicin as a short-term induction therapy and switch to other drugs after 3 days.

Summary: This study found that LINC-PINT is significantly downregulated in nasopharyngeal cancer tissues compared to rhinitis tissues, and low LINC-PINT expressions are associated with poorer prognosis in patients receiving radiotherapy. LINC-PINT plays a functional role in inhibiting malignant phenotypes and sensitizing cancer cells to irradiation in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, LINC-PINT inhibits DNA damage repair through the ATM/ATR-Chk1/Chk2 signaling pathways and increases radiosensitivity by interacting with DNA-PKcs.

Summary: This study explored the dysregulated expression of ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs) between normal control and tumor samples in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Four FRGs (ABCC1, GLS2, CS, and HMGCR) were identified as associated with poor prognosis in NPC patients. A risk model using two FRGs (ABCC1 and GLS2) showed good predictive performance according to the ROC curve. Multivariate analysis indicated that the risk score and intratumoral TILs were independent risk factors for prognosis.
