Summary: This review explores the production of bio-based gels for tissue regeneration, focusing on the years 2015-2020. The study primarily investigates the production of 3D scaffolds using alginate, chitosan, and agarose for skin and bone regeneration. The research highlights how supercritical CO2-assisted processes can overcome limitations of traditional techniques and preserve essential characteristics for cell adhesion and proliferation.

Summary: Architecting a suitable platform for biomedical applications involves balancing simplicity and complexity. Polysaccharides (PSAs) are crucial in various aspects of our lives, including food resources, structural materials, and energy storage. They have also become indispensable ingredients in food and cosmetics. PSA-based hydrogels have been extensively studied in biomedical applications, showing optimal performance through different designs.

Summary: This study encapsulated sustained release salicylic acid and ketoconazole loaded silica nanoparticles in alginate-based scaffold for effective treatment of fungal infections. The optimized scaffold demonstrated enhanced antifungal activity, least cytotoxicity, and rapid wound healing efficacy, emphasizing the potential for consistent prolonged drug availability for better fungal therapeutics.

Summary: This study investigated a novel nanocomposite 3D scaffold based on poly vinyl alcohol and sodium alginate embedded with Ca2+ doped titanium dioxide nanoparticle as a bioactive material. The scaffold showed good bioactivity and biocompatibility, promoting nucleation and growth of hydroxyapatite. It has the potential for biomedical applications.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the presence of feline lipiduria and renal lipid deposition on CT, and to explore associations with sex, urinary tract abnormalities, and urolithiasis. The results showed that lipiduria is common in cats and is associated with decreased renal cortical density. Male neutered cats had a higher frequency of lipiduria and lower renal cortical density compared to female neutered cats.

Summary: This study confirms the accuracy and reliability of four-dimensional CT excretory urography in diagnosing canine ureteral ectopia, with higher significance in intramural ectopic ureters compared to normotopic ones. Pelvis positioning adjustments do not seem to increase diagnostic confidence in determining ureteral opening position.

Summary: The study aimed to distinguish between lymphocytic inflammation and lymphoma, two important causes of liver disease in cats. By analyzing 44 cats' biopsies, the researchers identified specific visual patterns of lymphocytic infiltrates in liver biopsies that can predict lymphoma or inflammation. Four patterns of lymphocytic infiltrates were found, and patterns 2, 3, and 4 accurately diagnosed hepatic lymphomas with a sensitivity and specificity of 82% and 77%, respectively.

Summary: Chromatophoromas are tumors that originate from pigment cells in reptiles, amphibians, and fish. They include melanophoromas, iridophoromas, and xanthophoromas. Diagnosis is usually made through histologic examination, with immunohistochemistry and electron microscopy being helpful for diagnosing poorly differentiated and/or poorly pigmented tumors. Aggressive surgical excision is the preferred treatment method.
