Summary: This study investigated the comparability of reference materials (RMs) for carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and selected an appropriate diluent matrix for CEA measurement. The results showed that the candidate RMs for CEA were commutable among all immunoassays, and the diluted WHO 73/601 RMs in PBS buffer matrix were selected as common calibrators for five immunoassays, effectively improving the harmonization of CEA detection.

Summary: CEA is a widely used tumor marker, especially for gastrointestinal cancers like colorectal malignancy. The current methods for CEA detection are limited by high costs and long waiting times. By altering the secondary structure of fluorescent modified DNA, a new method for CEA detection was established, providing a simple, fast, and cheap sensing platform for biomarkers detection. This method shows great potential in tumor screening among populations and may have prospective effects on tumor treatment.

Summary: A photoelectrochemical immunosensor based on MIL-101(Cr) and CdTe-QDs composites was synthesized to detect the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) in human serum and urine samples. The sensor demonstrated altered photocurrent polarity, improved light utilization efficiency, and enhanced separation efficiency of electron-hole pairs. Under optimized conditions, the sensor showed high sensitivity and stability, with detection limits of 0.00018 ng mL-1 and 0.00023 ng mL-1 for anodic and cathodic detection of CEA, respectively.

Summary: This study aimed to establish a practical delta check limit for five tumour markers in different clinical settings. Using real-world data, it was found that DPC was the most appropriate delta-check method for tumour markers. Delta-check limits for tumour markers should be applied based on clinical settings.
