A reliable comparison of different dark matter (DM) searches requires models that satisfy certain consistency requirements like gauge invariance and perturbative uni-tarity. As a well-motivated example, we study two-mediator DM (2MDM). The model is based on a spontaneously broken U(1)' gauge symmetry and contains a Majorana DM particle as well as two s-channel mediators, one vector (the Z') and one scalar (the dark Higgs). We perform a global scan over the parameters of the model assuming that the DM relic density is obtained by thermal freeze-out in the early Universe and imposing a large set of constraints: direct and indirect DM searches, monojet, dijet and dilepton searches at colliders, Higgs observables, electroweak precision tests and perturbative unitarity. We conclude that thermal DM is only allowed either close to an s-channel resonance or if at least one mediator is lighter than the DM particle. In these cases a thermal DM abundance can be obtained although DM couplings to the Standard Model are tiny. Interestingly, we find that vector-mediated DM-nucleon scattering leads to relevant constraints despite the velocity-suppressed cross section, and that indirect detection can be important if DM annihilations into both mediators are kinematically allowed.

Dark Matter from Exponential Growth

Torsten Bringmann, Paul Frederik Depta, Marco Hufnagel, Joshua T. Ruderman, Kai Schmidt-Hoberg

Summary: The proposed mechanism offers a new approach to explain the production of dark matter from a thermal bath, complementing existing production mechanisms. By doing so, it opens up new parameter space for explaining the observed dark matter abundance.

Belle II sensitivity to long-lived dark photons

Torben Ferber, Camilo Garcia-Cely, Kai Schmidt-Hoberg

Summary: In this letter, the authors emphasize the unique sensitivity of the Belle II experiment to visibly decaying long-lived dark photons. They investigate the signatures with a single high-energy photon in association with a displaced pair of charged particles and show that Belle II can probe parameter space that other experimental facilities cannot cover. While the signature with charged muons or pions is expected to be background-free, further studies are needed to suppress background interference in the case of final state electrons.

Forecasting dark showers at Belle II

Summary: This study investigates the sensitivity of B factory experiments to dark showers produced through an effective interaction arising from a heavy off-shell mediator, finding Belle II to be more sensitive to dark showers compared to BaBar. Additionally, the underlying structure of the effective interaction can be resolved at higher-energy experiments, with LHCb and Belle II being most sensitive to different particle decay lengths.

Minimal sterile neutrino dark matter

Torsten Bringmann, Paul Frederik Depta, Marco Hufnagel, Joern Kersten, Joshua T. Ruderman, Kai Schmidt-Hoberg

Summary: We propose a new mechanism for generating undetectable sterile neutrinos vs in the early Universe, through the conversion of ordinary neutrinos va in scattering processes vsva -> vsvs. This leads to an exponential growth in the abundance of vs after initial production by oscillations. We demonstrate that this production regime occurs naturally for self-interacting vs, offering significant opportunities for vs to account for all observed dark matter. Our findings provide strong motivation to enhance the sensitivity of X-ray line searches and improve constraints from structure formation.
