Summary: In this work, NiFe2O4@NiO (1:0, 0.9:0.1, 0.7:0.3, 0.5:0.5, and 0:1) nanocomposites were prepared using a co-precipitation process to investigate their structural, dielectric, and optical properties for potential application in wastewater treatment. XRD, FTIR spectroscopy, and TEM were used to study the structural and morphological properties. The particle size was found to increase with nickel oxide content, and the oxidation state was determined using XPS. The impedance, dielectric constant, dielectric loss, and ac conductivity were observed to increase with nickel oxide concentration. The (0.5NiFe(2)O(4)/0.5NiO) nanocomposite exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity, degrading 95.41% of methylene blue dye within 120 min.

Summary: This study reports the synthesis of Zirconium metal-organic framework and chitosan composite of zirconium metal-organic framework for potential adsorption of methyl orange and methylene blue dyes. The synthesized materials were characterized and showed enhanced adsorption capability. Kinetic models indicated that pore diffusion dominates in the adsorption of methylene blue while film diffusion has a greater involvement in the adsorption of methyl orange. Photocatalytic degradation study showed the significance of pH and H2O2 in the degradation process and the formation of less toxic transformation products.

Summary: A novel UV-light-active MCC/S-VO2 photocatalyst was synthesized via hydrothermal route. Various techniques were used for the characterization of the photocatalyst. The photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) by MCC/S-VO2 showed superior performance compared to pure V2O5 and doped S-VO2. The addition of H2O2 significantly enhanced the photodegradation of MB.

Summary: In this study, M-type magnetic strontium hexaferrite microspheres were prepared and used as a magnetic photocatalyst for the degradation of methylene blue dye. The prepared SrFe12O19 photocatalyst showed a degradation efficiency of 90.2% towards the MB dye. Furthermore, the as-synthesized photocatalyst exhibited superior recycling ability without any phase changes up to three cycles. These findings suggest that SrFe12O19 microspheres could be a potential photocatalyst for the degradation of MB dye in industrial wastewater treatment processes.

Summary: In this study, graphitic carbon nitride (GCN) decorated manganese oxide (Mn2O3) materials with different concentrations of GCN were synthesized and used for photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) contaminant. It was found that 60% GCN decorated Mn2O3 showed excellent photocatalytic performance with over 99% capability for MB breakdown. The improved photocatalytic activity was attributed to good crystallinity, defined shape, superior optical band gap, and smaller particle size.

Summary: A series of Bi3+-doped ceria nanoparticles were successfully synthesized and showed effective photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue dye under visible light irradiation. Characterization through crystallography, microscopy, and spectroscopy confirmed the effectiveness of doping in the host lattice, along with the mesoporous nature of the nanoparticles. The shift of band gap energy from UV to visible region resulted in the photo degradation of the dye under visible light.

Summary: In this study, MWCNT-WO3 nanocomposites were successfully prepared and tested for their photocatalytic degradation performance on synthetic MB dye under UV activation. TEM and SEM observations confirmed the attachment of WO3 nanoparticles on MWCNT surface, with improved thermal stability of the composites as WO3 content increased. Photocatalytic experiments demonstrated that the addition of MWCNTs significantly enhanced the degradation efficiency of WO3, particularly shown in the high efficiency of the optimum MWCNT-W-7 composite.

Summary: This study reports a facile synthesis of undoped zinc oxide semiconductor nanoparticles and their efficient photocatalytic property towards methylene blue dye degradation. The synthesis method used various aliphatic amines as bases, and the resulting materials were characterized for their structure, morphology, and optical properties. It was found that the choice of aliphatic amine affected both the photodegradation properties and morphology of the undoped ZnO materials. The nanomaterial synthesized with n-butyl amine showed the highest catalytic degradation due to high absorption in the visible region.
