Summary: Sheehan syndrome caused by postpartum hemorrhage leads to pituitary hormone deficiency, resulting in various abnormalities including lipid and glucose abnormalities, increased body fat, insulin resistance, coagulation abnormalities, increased leptin concentration, low-grade inflammation, and endothelial dysfunction. Replacement with growth hormone in addition to standard hormone replacement improves the cardiometabolic profile of patients with Sheehan syndrome.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between age at menarche and the risk of diabetes and metabolic syndrome in postmenopausal Korean women. The results showed that early menarche was associated with an increased risk of diabetes, while the risk of metabolic syndrome did not show a significant increase. This suggests that age at menarche may be helpful in stratifying diabetes risk and early interventions for postmenopausal women.

Summary: The study found that metabolically healthy obesity is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, and transitioning from metabolically healthy obesity to metabolically unhealthy obesity also increases the risk. Even maintaining metabolically healthy obesity over time is linked to a higher risk of cardiovascular disease. Weight control and management of metabolic disorders are important for all obese individuals.

Summary: This study investigates the association between smoking, physical activity, and metabolic syndrome among adult men in Korea. The results show that non-smokers have a significantly lower risk of metabolic syndrome compared to smokers. Engaging in at least 150 minutes of moderate to high-intensity physical activity per week reduces the risk of metabolic syndrome. Occupational physical activity, however, is not associated with metabolic syndrome.

Summary: This study in Taiwan examined the transition of metabolic syndrome to cardiovascular disease, noting progression rates from FMD to MMD and MMD to MetS, as well as the increased incidence rates of CVD with the severity of RMRC. The findings provide valuable insights for intervention programs targeting CVD prevention and treatment.

Summary: Metabolic syndrome is a clinical condition characterized by the aggregation of major risk factors for cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes, including dyslipidemia, high blood pressure, abnormal blood sugar, and abdominal obesity. These risk factors have an independent effect but become synergistic when combined, leading to a doubled risk of cardiovascular diseases and a 1.5-fold increase in all-cause mortality. This article explores gender differences in the epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiology, and clinical expression of metabolic syndrome components, as well as gender differences in new biochemical markers of metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular risk.

Summary: This study analyzed eight randomized controlled trials and found that walnut consumption can reduce serum triglyceride levels in individuals with metabolic syndrome, but it has no significant effect on other cardiometabolic indices. Further well-designed and large-scale studies are needed to further explore the beneficial effects of walnut consumption on cardiometabolic profile.

Summary: A newly developed continuous MS score specifically for the Korean population has been found to be an independent predictor of ischemic stroke and MI in Korean middle-aged adults. The MS score showed superior model fitness and performance in predicting CV events compared to conventional metabolic syndrome diagnostic criteria (ATP-III).

Summary: The study found statistically significant correlations between hsCRP and age, gender, obesity, dyslipidemia, diabetes, hyperuricemia, and vitamin D concentration. Patients with CVD, hypertension, diabetes, or visceral obesity had significantly higher levels of hsCRP. Vitamin D concentration may play a role in modulating systemic inflammation.

Summary: This study examined the effects of social networks on unmet medical needs among older adults with limited instrumental activities of daily living in a community setting. It found that factors such as annual household income, participation in social activities, and physical support were predictors of unmet medical needs for male subjects, while factors such as annual household income, number of chronic diseases, living situation, frequency of contacting close friends, and emotional support were predictors for female subjects.

Summary: Factors like age discrimination and neglect contribute to the development of suicidal ideation among older adults in Korea, but do not directly influence the transition from ideation to attempts. The factors influencing this transition include male gender, lower educational attainment, and experience of age discrimination. Social efforts to reduce age discrimination are deemed necessary to prevent suicide attempts among Korean older adults.

Anxiety was the only factor associated with all stages of suicidality. Summary: This study investigates the factors influencing healing during acute care hospitalization by examining the differences in pressure injury status between admission and discharge. It found that the patient's consciousness level, use of foley catheter, creatinine level, and Braden Scale scores were significant factors contributing to the aggravation of pressure injuries during hospitalization. The residential place prior to admission was also found to be associated with healing.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between social frailty and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in community-dwelling older adults in South Korea. The study found that older adults with social frailty had lower HRQoL scores. This suggests that future interventions to improve HRQoL in older adults should consider social frailty.

Summary: This study found that the prevalence of obesity among Korean adolescents has been increasing annually since 2009. Unhealthy dietary behaviors, such as decreased healthy food intake and increased prevalence of unhealthy food intake and skipping breakfast, were observed. Although there was an increase in vigorous-intensity physical activity and muscle-strengthening exercise, sedentary time among the adolescents also increased.

Summary: The aim of this study was to examine the influence of nursing unit team effectiveness on nursing care left undone and nurse-reported quality of care. The study found that higher coordination within the nursing team significantly reduced the level of nursing care left undone. Higher competency of nurses and work productivity were associated with higher nurse-reported quality of care. Additionally, the study found that nursing care left undone had a negative effect on nurse-reported quality of care.

Summary: This study aimed to test a hypothetical model of successful aging based on the SOC model in older Korean women. The results showed that SOC strategies, subjective health status, and family support directly influence successful aging, while depression and social support have indirect effects. Therefore, it is important to improve SOC strategies and social factors to achieve successful aging in older women, especially in response to changing family values in Korea.
