Summary: This study demonstrated that schisandrol A has estrogen-like effects by inducing the expression of ER alpha through the PI3K/AKT and ERK signaling pathways, promoting the proliferation of MCF-7 cells. The effects of schisandrol A were more significant compared to E2 and could be mitigated by the ER antagonist ICI.

Summary: The study identified that CXXC5 is mainly expressed through a core promoter containing multiple transcription start sites and associated with various transcription factors and co-regulatory proteins. ELF1 and MAZ were verified to contribute to CXXC5 expression, while the first exon of variant 2 may contain a G-quadruplex forming region that could modulate CXXC5 expression.

Summary: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by cognitive deficits and accumulation of pathological plaques. This study identified that CXXC5, a negative regulator of the Wnt/beta-catenin pathway, is overexpressed in AD patients and transgenic mice, and its suppression is associated with AD pathogenesis. Inhibition of the CXXC5-Dvl interaction improved the overall pathogenic phenotypes of AD mice, suggesting a new therapeutic approach for AD.

Summary: This study suggests that FSH mediates meiotic arrest of oocytes in goat follicles through the promotion of 17-beta-estradiol synthesis and the expression of ER beta. Additionally, the E-2/ER signaling pathway prevents meiotic recovery of oocytes by inhibiting NPR2 expression and cGMP synthesis.

Summary: A study found that in human Glioblastomas (GBM), the pro-oncogenic actions of 17 beta-estradiol (E2) are mediated by EZH2, which promotes proliferation, migration, and invasion of GBM cells. Although E2 does not modify EZH2 expression, gene silencing and pharmacological inhibition of EZH2 can block these pro-oncogenic actions.

Summary: This study discovered a novel mechanism by which FSH regulates E2 synthesis in hypoxic GCs through the activation of glycolytic metabolism via the HIF-1alpha-AMPK-GLUT1 pathway. The findings suggest that hypoxia and HIF-1 alpha may be relevant to FSH-induced E2 synthesis.

Summary: This study reveals a novel mechanism of gene regulation mediated by estrogen receptor alpha in breast cancer cells, involving the control of RNA-binding protein expression and effects on isoform usage and alternative splicing. These regulatory mechanisms play a significant role in cell proliferation and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition in breast cancer.
