Summary: The presence of B2O3 positively influences the adsorption desulfurization performance of the Ag-CeOx/TiO2-SiO2 adsorbent, enhancing its activity by providing more surface defect sites. Moreover, the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model helps to reveal the mechanism of adsorption-diffusion behavior within the column.

Summary: The Re/Pd-TiO2/SiO2 aerogel catalysts synthesized using sol-gel method and super-critical drying showed higher catalytic activity in hydrodesulphurisation of dibenzothiophene (DBT) and 4,6-dimethyl dibenzothiophene (4,6-DMDBT) compared to Co/Mo-Al2O3/SiO2 aerogel catalysts. This can be attributed to well dispersed active phases, incorporation of Ti within silica matrix, increased mesopore volumes and high specific surface areas in Re/Pd-TiO2/SiO2 aerogels.

Summary: In this study, a non-periodic computational model for Ga-Ni-Mo-S nanocluster was established to investigate the inert pair effect of Ga species on both the electron structures of the nanocluster and the direct desulfurization reaction of 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene. The results showed that the inert pair effect of Ga enhanced the stability of the nanocluster and affected the electron and bonding properties of the active sites. The enhanced electron acceptor characteristics allowed 4,6-DMDBT to undergo the DDS reaction on the Ga-Ni-Mo-S nanocluster.

Summary: This study systematically investigated the desorption process for lithium recovery from simulated salt lake brine using an adsorption method. Temperature is found to significantly impact the desorption process, while washing volume affects the elution rate of lithium. The concentration-dependent Homogeneous Surface Diffusion Model (HSDM) was developed to fit and simulate the dynamic elution performance of lithium in fixed bed columns.

Summary: The study established a computational method based on density functional theory to investigate the effects of ferromagnetism of Ni species on the Ni-Mo-S monolayer nanocluster and the adsorption behavior of 4,6-DMDBT. The results showed that the ferromagnetism significantly influenced the spin charge density of the corner active site, impacting the adsorption behavior of 4,6-DMDBT. The magnetic features of Ni-Mo-S corner active sites played a crucial role in the adsorption process.

Summary: The presence of antibiotic residues, such as oxytetracycline (OTC), in wastewater effluents has created the need for monitoring trace concentrations to combat bacterial resistance. Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) is a promising technique for detecting and identifying low concentrations (ng/L) without sample preparation. A fibrillar support, Titania-Silica doped with silver particles, was developed in the SERS technique for detecting OTC. The doped ceramic fibers showed the presence of silver nanoparticles ranging from 30 nm to dendritic structures larger than 1 μm, depending on the synthesis conditions. The support doped with Ag at 19 V for 30 s exhibited the highest amplification factor (AF) of 44 for the OTC band at 1278 cm-1.

Summary: This research studied the use of a fixed bed column filled with immobilized titanium oxide-loaded almond shell carbon (TiO2@ASC) for leachate treatment. The adsorption performance of synthesized TiO2@ASC in the column was analyzed through experiments and modeling. Instrumental techniques were used to determine the characteristics of the synthesized materials. The study optimized parameters such as flow rate, initial concentration, and bed height to assess the effectiveness of leachate treatment.

Summary: The influence of different supports on the properties of transition metal atoms was studied using density functional theory calculations. It was found that SiO2/Ru(0001) and SiO2/Pt(111) supports enhance the reactivity of transition metal atoms, sometimes leading to electron transfer, while no electron transfer was observed on SiO2/Si(100) films.

Summary: This study analyzed the adsorption of ivermectin with commercial activated charcoal and found that the adsorption capacity is highly sensitive to changes in pH, with the best adsorption performance observed at conditions close to neutrality. The commercial activated charcoal showed high efficiency and fast kinetics in removing ivermectin, and performed well in continuous operation mode.

Summary: The contamination and dispersion of antibiotics through sewage treatment plant effluents is causing the emergence of resistant bacteria, leading to a health emergency. In order to eliminate antibiotics in effluents, advanced oxidation processes, especially photocatalysis, have been used for their efficient degradation. In this study, SiO2-TiO2 fibers with a cylindrical morphology and smooth surface were obtained using sol-gel and electrospinning techniques. By doping the fibers with silver, their photocatalytic properties were enhanced, and the degradation percentage of oxytetracycline increased from 65% to 90% in 7 hours. The improved performance is attributed to the decrease in the banned band energy of SiO2-TiO2 fibers from 3.1eV to 2.5eV due to silver doping.
