Summary: This study identified non-polar compounds that coprecipitate with aflatoxins and developed an effective pretreatment method combining zirconia-coated silica gel and IAC. The method has been successfully applied for the quantification of aflatoxins in four types of samples and in real samples where mold growth was encouraged.

Summary: The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has proposed a temporary tolerable daily intake of 0.04 ng/kg body weight/day for Bisphenol A (BPA) and its four analogues due to their potential endocrine disrupting effects. A more sensitive analytical method was urgently needed for the risk reassessment of bisphenols (BPs). The matrix effect of Chinese foods, which contain various spices, is a challenge for the analysis of ultra-trace analytes. In this study, a multi-immunoaffinity column (mIAC) combined with ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry detection (UHLPC-MS/MS) was used for the purification and analysis of BPA, BPB, BPF, BPS, and BPAF in Chinese foods.

Summary: This study reports a novel liquid chromatography mass spectrometric assay for biomarkers of drug-induced pancreatic injury. The assay, based on immunoprecipitation of peptides and mass spectrometry analysis, showed higher sensitivity and specificity compared to traditional enzyme detection methods.

Summary: We aimed to establish an LC-MS/MS method for quantifying bevacizumab content in biological fluids using a surrogate peptide generated through trypsin hydrolysis and an isotopically labeled peptide as an internal standard. The method involved a series of pre-treatment processes and had a total duration of approximately 2.5-3 h. The validated method showed a linear range of 0.2 μg/mL to 300 μg/mL in different matrices, with satisfactory precision and accuracy.

Summary: The study explored unpaired cysteines in a therapeutic antibody mAb1 using LC-MS methods, revealing different variants containing unpaired cysteines in domain and peptide mapping analysis, unaffected by high pH and heat-stressed conditions. The integrated LC-MS methods, stress studies, and structural analysis could potentially be applied to analyze unpaired cysteines in other mAbs.

Summary: This study aimed to validate the analytical method for detecting multiple mycotoxins in roasted coffee samples. The method used liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and an immunoaffinity column for sample pre-treatment. The results showed that the validated method was suitable for multimycotoxin detection in roasted coffee samples.

Summary: The study optimized the conditions for the simultaneous extraction of chloramphenicol, florfenicol and thiamphenicol using immunoaffinity clean-up with two specific monoclonal antibodies. LC-MS/MS coupled with immunoaffinity clean-up showed higher extraction efficiency and sensitivity compared to solid phase extraction (SPE) for the detection of the three antibiotics.

Summary: This study investigated the changes in the protein fraction of coffee, which is important for cup quality. The results showed a significant increase in modified peptides from wet processed green beans compared to dry ones. This study contributes to a better understanding of the influence of different processing methods on protein quality and its role in coffee cup quality and aroma.

Summary: The Affi-BAMS™ epitope-directed affinity bead capture/MALDI MS platform is effective in quantitatively defining complex PTM marks of H3 and H4 histones. The platform achieves a range of >3 orders of magnitude with a technical precision CV of <5%. It can resolve heterogeneous histone N-terminal PTMs with as little as 100 μg of starting material.

Summary: This study developed a novel and effective strategy for analyzing and authenticating Guang Dilong, a traditional Chinese medicine, based on enzymatic digestion of protein. Peptidomics profiles of trypsin-digested samples were evaluated using nanoLC-MS/MS, resulting in the identification of species-specific peptide biomarkers in Guang Dilong. Mathematical set theory was used to investigate the significance of different samples and peptides in the target species set. Finally, five specific peptide biomarkers were confirmed and validated for differentiating Guang Dilong from other species using UFLC-MS/MS and MRM mode.
