Summary: A new method for accessing sulfonated dibenzazepines via visible-light photoredox catalysis is described, utilizing sulfonyl chlorides to form sulfonyl radicals for alkyne addition and radical cyclization reactions. Additionally, an Ugi-type multicomponent reaction can be used for rapid substrate synthesis, simplifying the synthetic steps of highly functionalized sulfonylated dibenzazepines.

Summary: Developing metal-free, visible light active photocatalysts is crucial for environmental remediation and energy generation. In this study, a sulfone-based porous organic polymer was synthesized as a visible light active catalyst for pollutant degradation and waste plastic conversion. The continuous flow method allowed for faster synthesis and improved catalytic performance compared to the traditional batch approach. The catalyst showed enhanced efficiency in pollutant degradation and could be efficiently reused in the flow process. The photoreforming of waste plastic resulted in the generation of green hydrogen and other value-added products.

Summary: We have developed a visible-light-mediated formal [4 + 2] cycloaddition of arylcyclobutylamines with olefins, using QXPT-NPhCN as an organic photocatalyst. The corresponding cycloadducts could be obtained from electron-deficient olefins, aryl olefins, and exocyclic olefins. By adding K3PO4, the cycloadditions can be significantly promoted. This method allows the efficient synthesis of 2-functionalized cyclohexylamines, including those with spiro-skeletons.

Summary: The synthesis of four-membered heterocycles often requires complex procedures and prefunctionalized reactants. An alternative approach is the photochemical [2+2]-heterocycloaddition, but it is limited by the absorption profile of the carbonyl and the use of high-energy UV-light. This review highlights the progress made in developing visible light-driven [2+2]-heterocycloadditions and discusses the remaining challenges and potential future directions.

Summary: In this study, we developed a visible-light-mediated [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction by using QXPT-NPh as an efficient organic photoredox catalyst, enabling the reaction between arylcyclopropylamine and structurally diverse olefins. This method provides a general and efficient strategy for constructing cyclopentane-based spiro[4.n] skeletons with 1,3-difunctional groups, which are widely present in natural products and synthetic molecules. Additionally, we proposed a hydrogen-bond mode between arylcyclopropylamine and the photocatalyst QXPT-NPh.

Summary: In this study, we achieved the stereoselective construction of 3D bicyclic scaffolds and azetidine derivatives by modulating N-sulfonylimines, allowing for either [4+2]- or [2+2]-cycloaddition reactions. The utility of the method was demonstrated through further modulation of the resulting products. Mechanistic studies supported a reaction mechanism involving Dexter energy transfer.

Summary: Heterogeneous photocatalysis has gained extensive attention in environmental remediation. The formation of heterojunction can greatly improve the charge separation efficiency and light response of single semiconductor. Ternary heterojunctions inhibit the recombination of photogenerated charge carriers and show high photocatalytic efficiency. This research provides guidance for the rational design of multi-components heterojunction for photocatalytic environmental remediation.
