Summary: The study aimed to investigate the effect of intravenous cyclophosphamide (CYC) as initial therapy in patients with acute exacerbation of rheumatoid arthritis-related interstitial lung disease. The results showed that CYC did not demonstrate a survival benefit in this patient population but was associated with a higher proportion of platelet transfusion.

Summary: This study investigated the level of knowledge among health care professionals and patients about the impact of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) on fertility. The results showed that health care professionals had good knowledge, while patients had poor knowledge. The study also revealed a lack of understanding among patients regarding the impact on sexual function and reproductive outcomes. The findings highlight the importance of improving education for both health care professionals and patients regarding fertility and sexual function in IBD.

Summary: This study used data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) to explore the impact of retirement on the health of elderly individuals in China. The results showed that retirement has a beneficial effect on the health of elderly individuals, including reducing physical pain, decreasing the risk of depression, and improving cognitive status. These findings indicate the importance of considering the potential effects of retirement on health when formulating retirement-related policies.

Summary: A matched cohort study was conducted to evaluate the effect of Hypotension Prediction Index (HPI) on reducing intraoperative hypotension in non-cardiac surgery patients. The results indicated that the application of HPI can significantly reduce the occurrence and duration of hypotensive events during surgery, especially in high-risk patients.

Summary: This study investigated the association between abnormal FIT results and the onset of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The results indicated that a positive FIT result was associated with a higher risk of IBD. These findings suggest that abnormal FIT results could be a preceding sign of incident IBD in the general population, and regular screening for early disease detection might be beneficial for individuals with positive FIT results and suspected IBD symptoms.

Summary: The use of carotid plaque assessment through ultrasound can effectively identify IBD patients at high cardiovascular risk. Disease-related features did not significantly impact the reclassification of patients, while traditional cardiovascular risk factors had a similar influence on reclassification in both patients and controls. LDL-cholesterol levels had a greater effect on reclassification in controls compared to patients.

Summary: Malnutrition is common in patients with inflammatory bowel disease, especially those admitted to the hospital. It can lead to various complications, but early screening and intervention can help mitigate the risks. Factors such as reduced oral food intake, inflammation, and surgical resections contribute to malnutrition, while inappropriate diet restrictions and post-hospital syndrome can worsen the condition during hospitalization.
