Summary: This research established a multi-tier cloud-based Internet of Things (IoT) platform to enhance greenhouse microclimate for cucumber cultivation. The platform connected all sensors, controllers, and actuators in the greenhouse for long-distance communication, leading to increased cucumber yield and enhanced quality, as well as improved water use efficiency and decreased energy consumption. The platform seems suitable for soilless greenhouse cultivation in arid regions based on its positive impact on water use efficiency and yield and quality enhancement of cucumbers.

Summary: Precision farming is exploring new methods to manage and reduce the environmental impact of farming systems. Results showed no significant difference in yield between variable-rate fertilization (VRF) and conventional fertilization (CF) on spring wheat, but VRF reduced nitrogen fertilizer consumption by 19% and increased fertilizer efficiency. VRF technology also reduced indirect energy inputs by 12.3%, resulting in 9% higher energy efficiency and productivity compared to CF.

Summary: This study aims to assess the spatial, temporal, and vertical variability of major environmental parameters in Chinese solar greenhouses during winter and provide greenhouse climate/microclimate characteristics for monitoring and controlling greenhouse environmental conditions. A wireless sensor network was deployed in two greenhouses to measure and analyze variables such as air temperature, humidity, CO2 concentration, light intensity, solar radiation, and wind conditions. The findings reveal significant variability in the spatial, temporal, and vertical distribution of environmental factors in both greenhouses.
