Summary: The study found that LITT treatment may provide survival benefits for patients with rGBM, with an overall survival of 18.6 months, post-LITT survival of 10.1 months, and progression-free survival of 6 months.

Summary: Gestational maternal immune activation in mice leads to persistent brain inflammation and neuropathological changes in adult offspring. This study reveals that the disruption of blood-brain barrier (BBB) function is involved in this process, which is caused by increased microglial activation and abnormal prenatal BBB formation driven by COX2 expression.

Summary: The review aims to summarize the evidence on the safety and effectiveness of LITT in patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma. However, due to low quality of the studies, firm conclusions cannot be drawn, highlighting the need for well-designed research in this area.

Summary: In this study, nuclear imaging was used to quantify the impact of focused ultrasound (FUS) on blood-brain barrier (BBB) opening and tumor growth. The results showed that FUS did not influence tumor growth, and molecular imaging can be used to evaluate the time frame and efficacy of systemic treatment combined with transient BBB opening.

Summary: This article reports an in situ strategy for chemodynamic therapy (CDT) of orthotopic glioblastoma (GBM) using biomimetic CuFeSe2-LOD@Lipo-CM (CLLC) nanocatalysts. The CLLC nanocatalysts, composed of ultrasmall CuFeSe2 nanocrystals (CFS), lactate oxidase (LOD), and liposome containing GBM cell membrane proteins (Lipo-CM), can partly penetrate the disrupted blood-brain barrier (BBB) and precisely target GBM due to their excellent homologous targeting and immune escaping abilities. The LOD oxidizes intratumoral lactic acid to H2O2 and pyruvate, providing self-supplied H2O2 for CDT. The nanocatalysts can also initiate a Cu+ based Fenton-like reaction to convert H2O2 into highly harmful ·OH. This biomimetic nanocatalyst combined with LOD and NIR-II laser can achieve enhanced localized CDT, offering an alternative treatment for GBM.

Summary: In this study, a 96-hour acute toxicity model was established to investigate the effects of Avermectin (AVM) on the intestinal tract of carp. The results showed that AVM exposure caused intestinal damage, decreased the expression of tight junction protein gene, activated oxidative stress, induced apoptosis, and induced intestinal inflammation in carp. Therefore, it was demonstrated that AVM has complex toxic effects on the fish intestinal tract, providing a new perspective for studying the toxicology of AVM on the fish intestinal tract.

Summary: The study analyzed 10 patients with lymph node recurrence in the laterocervical compartment after total thyroidectomy. All patients underwent a single laser ablative session with no reported complications and showed significant reduction in lymph node volume during follow-up.

Summary: This study systematically measured the extent of ablation and its impact on patients' PFS and OS in a cohort of ndGBM patients treated with upfront LITT. The results showed that near-total ablation significantly improved patients' PFS and OS, and it was deemed safe.

Summary: Increased extent of ablation (EOA) is a predictor of improved progression-free survival (PFS) in the treatment of newly diagnosed glioblastoma using laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT). Early transition to chemotherapy after LITT also improves PFS.

Summary: In this study, an interfacial analysis of laser machining process on TBCs was conducted using an integrated LIBS experimental setup. A mathematical model based on laser ablation was developed to understand the intensity variation of Zr, Al, and Cr emission lines. Experimental and model results showed a sharp decrease in Zr intensity at the ceramic layer/bond coat interface, with observable increases in Al and Cr intensities at the interfaces.

Summary: The study found that short-term use of ceftriaxone can lead to changes in the gut microbiota, disruption of the intestinal barrier, and ultrastructural changes in the kidneys of SD rats. Additionally, inhibiting the TLR4 signaling pathway can alleviate the damage to the intestinal barrier and kidneys.

Summary: The study demonstrates that high-frequency pulsed electric fields can be fine-tuned to disrupt the blood-brain barrier while minimizing cell ablation. Differences in pulse widths and interphase delays affect the thresholds for BBB disruption and cell ablation, impacting the treatment outcomes.

Summary: Research was conducted on the surface morphology changes induced by femtosecond laser on single-crystal superalloy and thermal barrier coating, with discussion on the ablation mechanisms in different regions. The results showed similar ablation thresholds for single-crystal superalloy and TBC, but different dominant mechanisms.

Summary: Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a common and aggressive malignant primary brain tumor in adults, limited by the blood-brain barrier. Photo-thermal therapy (PTT) mediated by nanoparticles is a promising strategy, and a multipurpose integrated preclinical device has been developed to enable more effective treatment and monitoring.
