Summary: Surgical treatment of vascular malformations appears to be effective and safe in many cases. However, it seems that surgery is performed predominantly in small lesions, and subtotal resection has a higher risk of recurrence than total resection.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the outcomes of interventional treatment for spinal vascular malformations (SVMs). Surgical resection showed higher initial treatment success and lower recurrence rates compared to endovascular techniques. However, complications were more common after endovascular embolization. Overall, surgical resection appears to be more effective in preventing disease progression and minimizing irreversible dysfunction.

Summary: This study compared the efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine injections (TCMIs) combined with oseltamivir (TCMIs + oseltamivir) versus oseltamivir alone in the treatment of influenza. The results showed that some TCMIs + oseltamivir combinations were more effective than oseltamivir alone in reducing fever and cough duration. However, the overall therapeutic efficacy and safety remained inconclusive.

Summary: The study aims to evaluate the efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine injections (CHMIs) in treating psoriasis vulgaris (PV) through a systematic review and meta-analysis. The results showed that CHMIs significantly reduced the severity of PV lesions, especially when used in combination with other therapies. There was no significant difference in treatment duration beyond 56 days. However, more high-quality, multi-center, and large-scale studies are needed to provide robust evidence for the clinical application of CHMIs for PV.

Summary: In the treatment of R.R.P., Cidofovir has a greater impact on complete remission, while Bevacizumab has a higher ratio of partial remission. Cidofovir shows a significant decrease in DSS. Bevacizumab has lower rates of no remission and recurrence, and fewer adverse events compared to Cidofovir.

Summary: Research surveys indicate that individuals with IMIDs undergoing targeted systemic therapies tend to exhibit more stringent risk-mitigating behavior, potentially explaining their lower adverse outcomes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, shielding behavior is associated with risk factors for severe COVID-19, and there are modest variations in behavior observed across different nations.

Summary: This study examined appearance-related concerns and their impact on mental health in patients with peripheral vascular malformations (VMs). The results showed that a majority of patients had severe concerns about their appearance, which affected their quality of life. Factors such as diagnosis, facial localization, and severity of the condition were associated with more appearance-related concerns. In adults, dissatisfaction with appearance and reduced self-esteem were correlated with anxiety and depression symptoms, while reduced self-esteem was associated with less social participation. In children, bodily distortion and being stared at were related to reduced peer relationships.

Summary: This study aims to update a systematic review and evaluate the measurement properties of instruments for the core outcomes of congenital melanocytic naevi (CMN). The first step involves literature search to identify core outcomes and instruments used in previous research. The second step includes a systematic search for studies on the measurement properties of these instruments. The study concludes that further research is needed to determine the appropriate measurement instruments for the core outcomes of CMN.

Summary: The COSEB kick-off meeting in April 2023 emphasized the need for reasonable harmonization of outcome measurement in different types of epidermolysis bullosa (EB) through the development of core outcome sets. The standardized and uniform outcome assessment has the potential to reduce selective reporting, improve comparability and pooling of treatment outcomes, and enhance future research efficacy in EB.

Therefore, patients with macrodactyly should be informed about the possible growth and be monitored.
