Purpose: New promising detectors are available for measuring small field size output factors (OFs). This study focused on a multicenter evaluation of two new generation detectors for OF measurements on CyberKnife systems. Methods: PTW-60019 microDiamond and W1 plastic scintillation detector (PSD) were used to measure OFs on eight CyberKnife units of various generations for 5-60 mm fixed cones. MicroDiamond and PSD OF were compared to routinely used silicon diodes data corrected applying published Monte Carlo (MC) factors. PSD data were corrected for Cerenkov Light Ratio (CLR). The uncertainties related to CLR determination were estimated. Results: Considering OF values averaged over all centers, the differences between MC corrected diode and the other two detectors were within 1.5%. MicroDiamond exhibited an over-response of 1.3% at 7.5 mm and a trend inversion at 5 mm with a difference of 0.2%. This behavior was consistent among the different units. OFs measured by PSD slightly under-responded compared to MC corrected diode for the smaller cones and the differences were within 1%. The observed CLR variability was 2.5% and the related variation in OF values was 1.9%. Conclusion: This study indicates that CyberKnife microDiamond OF require corrections below 2%. The results are enhanced by the consistency observed among different units. Scintillator shows a good agreement to MC corrected diode but CLR determination remains critical requiring further investigations. The results emphasized the value of a multi-center validation over a single center approach. (C) 2016 Associazione Italiana di Fisica Medica. Published by Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Summary: The study investigates the use of a diamond detector for FLASH radiotherapy (RT), a technique using ultra-high dose rates and dose per pulse. The response linearity of the diamond prototypes is shown to be affected by the size of their active volume and series resistance. The results demonstrate the feasibility of using a diamond detector for FLASH-RT applications.

Summary: An automatic procedure was developed for treatment planning and field junction creation in total marrow (and lymphoid) irradiation (TMI-TMLI). The automatic plans achieved clinically acceptable dosimetric results, with significant differences found only in the junction region compared to manual plans. The introduction of the automatic procedure reduced treatment time and improved efficiency and standardization.

Summary: In this study, a machine learning ensemble model was used to predict the gamma passing rate for VMAT plans. The model performed well and provided a conservative estimation of the GPR. It can be integrated into the radiotherapy workflow, but center-specific validation is necessary before clinical use.

Summary: The contouring of lymph node clinical target volume (CTV_LN) in total marrow and lymph node irradiation (TMLI) is complex and time-consuming. The introduction of internal guidelines reduced inter- and intraobserver variability in CTV_LN delineation. The guidelines improved the consistency of contouring in TMLI treatments.

Summary: This review provides a comprehensive description of the applications of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the radiotherapy (RT) process for head and neck cancer (HNC). The majority of the selected studies focused on the segmentation of organs at risk (OARs), while limited research was found on the impact of AI on clinical outcomes. It is suggested that future studies should be conducted by interdisciplinary groups, including clinicians and computer scientists, to ensure the effective alignment of AI technologies with clinical needs in RT.

Summary: In this paper, the changes in electrical performance induced by operating time in hydrogen-terminated diamond MESFETs for high power and high frequency applications are discussed. It was found that the current flowing in the sample increases during the stress step, while the drain current decreases in the full experiment. The on-resistance increases and the threshold voltage shifts during the characterization phase. The time-dependent behavior is attributed to the creation of defects inside the structure. Furthermore, a decrease in electroluminescence was observed, indicating increased carrier-defect scattering.
