Summary: This article reports the fabrication and characterization of Zn2SiO4:Co2+ using different concentrations of Co3O4 as a dopant. The results showed that the dopant incorporation led to bluer emission and increased density. XRD analysis confirmed the stable state of willemite phase, while optical absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopy revealed the presence of distinct absorption bands and emission peaks. The study also demonstrated the potential to produce blue emissions using Zn2SiO4:Co2+ samples.

Summary: The influence of gamma radiation doses on the 10BaO-20ZnO-20LiF-49.3B(2)O(3) -0.7Er(2)O(3) glass was analyzed in terms of density, optical absorption, and luminescence characteristics. The high doses of radiation resulted in the formation of defects in the glass, altering its optical properties. The study also demonstrated the remarkable radiation hardness of the glass as a green emission device and laser.

Summary: This research explores the luminescence and spectroscopy properties of borotellurite glass doped with Er3+ ions. The study reveals concentration quenching effect at 1.00 mol% of Er2O3 concentration, and a reverse trend between molar volume and density with increasing Er2O3 concentration, suggesting structural degradation due to non-bridging oxygen. The absorption spectra exhibit the strongest intensity at 525 nm, while the emission spectra show a peak at 1.54 μm of I-4(13/2) -> I-4(15/2) transition when monitored at 525 nm. Judd-Ofelt (J-O) analysis and McCumber theory are employed to calculate various parameters, indicating that these glasses doped with Er3+ ions have the potential to be used in C-band optical communication devices.

Summary: Dy3+-doped YPO4 glass ceramic samples were synthesized through melt-quenching and heat-treatment methods. Structural analysis of YPO4 GC was performed using differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The optimized sample was GC565 (heat-treated at 565 degrees C for 2 h). The fluorescence intensity ratio (FIR) of Dy3+ emissions from I-4(15/2) and F-4(9/2) to H-6(15/2) under 350 nm excitation was used for temperature sensing, with a maximum relative sensitivity of 2.03 %K-1 at 303 K. Our work demonstrates the potential application of Dy3+-doped YPO4 GC in optical temperature sensing.

Summary: Ox/ox CMC based on Nextel 610 fibers with 75 wt% alumina - 25 wt% zirconia matrix were joined by a glass-ceramic and tested for creep behavior at high temperatures. The results showed no significant difference between joined and non-joined ox/ox CMC at 850°C after 50 hours, but a difference was observed at 1000°C, suggesting a different creep mechanism controlled by the visco-elastic flow of the glass-ceramic.

Summary: In this study, Sm3+ doped glass-ceramic with crystallized BaZn2(PO4)(2) was prepared and its structural, optical, and stimulated luminescence dosimetry properties were investigated. The results showed that the OSL intensity reached a maximum at a Sm3+ concentration of 0.25 mol%, after which a concentration quenching effect was observed. The material also exhibited thermoluminescence and had a linear radiation dose response range of 0.2-500 Gy.

Summary: The study showed that with increasing ceramic filler content, the mechanical strength of the samples tends to decrease, but the thermal cycle behavior of samples with ceramic fibers is improved. Especially, for the sample with 4 ceramic fiber interlayers, the mechanical strength shows an increasing trend with the number of thermal cycles.

Summary: In this study, a parent glass with 20Na(2)O-80GeO(2)-0.1 MnO2 composition was prepared and transformed into glass-ceramic nanocomposites (GCNs) through thermal treatment. XRD measurements confirmed the presence of crystallites smaller than 21 nm in the GCNs, leading to improved optical characteristics.

Summary: Since Purcell's seminal report 75 years ago, electromagnetic resonators have been used to control light-matter interactions to make brighter radiation sources and unleash unprecedented control over quantum states of light and matter. In this letter, the authors report a strong radiative emission rate enhancement of Er3+-ions across the telecommunications C-band in a single plasmonic waveguide based on the Purcell effect. The waveguide uses a reverse nanofocusing approach to efficiently enhance, extract, and guide emission from the nanoscale to a photonic waveguide, while keeping losses at a minimum.

Summary: This study investigates the crystallization behavior and photoluminescence properties of Er3+-doped glass-ceramic materials based on ZnO and Zn2SiO4 nanoparticles, finding that the presence of Na2O promotes the crystallization of Zn2SiO4 while the K2O-ZnO-SiO2 material remains transparent. Furthermore, the crystallization leads to a significant increase in the photoluminescence intensity of Er3+ ions by up to 300%.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of ceramic fibers with different sizes on the sealing performance of glass ceramic seals for microtubular solid oxide fuel cell applications. Experimental results show that sealing pastes with ceramic bulk fiber and ceramic fiber rope gasket can effectively improve the sealing performance, while pastes without filler and with ceramic blanket exhibit poor sealing performance.
