Differential cross-section of proton induced gamma-ray emission from the reactions (24)mg(p,p',gamma)(24)mg (E-gamma = 1369 keV), (25)mg(p,p'gamma)(25)mg (E-gamma = 390, 585, 975 keV) and Mg-26(p,gamma)Al-27 (E-gamma = 1014 keV) were measured for proton energies from 1 to 3 MeV using a 60 mu g/cm(2) Mg target evaporated on a 40 mu g/cm(2) Ag thin film. The gamma-rays were collected by a 50% relative efficiency HPGe detector placed at an angle of 90 with respect to the beam direction, while the backscattered protons were collected by an ion implanted Si detector placed at a scattering angle of 165 degrees. Simultaneous collection of gamma-ray and RBS spectra is a great advantage of this approach which makes differential cross-section measurements independent on the collected beam charge. Measured cross-section values were compared with the previously reported data in the literature. Absolute gamma-ray differential cross-sections were obtained with an overall systematic uncertainty of about +/- 6% and statistical uncertainty of less than +/- 5% for proton energies higher than 2.24 MeV.
