Summary: This paper proposes an improved IA-Mask R-CNN detection method for surface defect detection on automotive engine parts. By establishing an image dataset and analyzing labeled data, suitable anchor scales for surface defect detection are determined to improve the anchor design in Mask R-CNN. The experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms other detection methods in detecting both minor and larger defects.

Summary: The intelligent crack detection method is of great significance for intelligent operation and maintenance as well as traffic safety. This paper investigates the application of deep learning in intelligently detecting road cracks and compares and analyzes Faster R-CNN and Mask R-CNN. The results show that the joint training strategy is effective, but it degrades the effectiveness of the bounding box detected by Mask R-CNN.

Summary: This paper presents a real-time image analysis system based on Mask R-CNN for flotation froth segmentation and bubble size measurement. The system can effectively detect bubbles, measure the size distribution of the bubbles, and detect non-loaded bubbles in the froth. Application of the classical image segmentation methods showed considerable errors in bubble identification and sizing.

Summary: The application of deep learning methods has improved the accuracy and automation of landslide extractions based on remote sensing images. However, the quality of training samples often fails the requirement for training deep networks, and the similarity between background objects and landslides can lead to false and missed extractions. To solve these problems, a background-enhancement method was proposed to enrich the complexity of samples and landslide-inducing attributes were used as supplements. The experiments showed a significant improvement in extraction accuracy using the proposed methods.

Summary: Wood logs need to be measured for size when passing through customs. Traditional measurement methods are inefficient and inaccurate. We propose a method that uses a Mask R-CNN model for contour detection and a binocular stereo camera for diameter measurement. Experimental results show good accuracy and precision of the method.

Summary: This study proposes a fine recognition method for field strawberry ripeness that combines deep learning and image processing. The model's performance is improved by incorporating self-calibrated convolutions into the Mask R-CNN backbone network. The strawberry target is divided into sub-regions and the color feature values are extracted for each sub-region, leading to accurate strawberry ripeness classification.

Summary: The structural behavior and corrosion resistance of hybrid fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) wrapped steel bars were studied for use in reinforced concrete structures. Laboratory experiments were conducted to assess the axial tensile capacity and corrosion resistance of the composite bars, as well as the flexural behavior of beams reinforced with these hybrid bars. The results showed that FRP-wrapped steel reinforcing bars not only contributed to the strength capacity of the bars but also exhibited high corrosion resistance.
