Summary: This study compares the effectiveness of ultrasound-guided needle aspiration and surgical drainage in the treatment of parotid abscesses. The results show that there is no significant difference in abscess volume and treatment frequency between the two methods, but ultrasound-guided needle aspiration may reduce the length of hospital stay. There were no cases of facial nerve injury in any of the patients, and the occurrence of postoperative bleeding was lower after needle aspiration.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the diagnosis, predisposing factors, investigations, and management of retropharyngeal and parapharyngeal abscesses. A total of 30 patients with these abscesses were identified, and computed tomography was the most commonly used diagnostic tool. All patients received intravenous antibiotics, and surgical drainage was required in 17 cases. Early drainage and antimicrobial therapy are crucial for rapid recovery and prevention of complications.

Summary: The main treatment approach for diverticular disease is non-operative treatment with bowel rest and broad-spectrum intravenous antibiotics. This study reports a high success rate in technical and clinical outcomes for EUS-guided drainage with LAMS in diverticular disease patients with pelvic abscess, providing a potentially efficient treatment modality.

Summary: This case report describes the successful management of a pelvic abscess in a patient with Hinchey II acute diverticulitis using EUS-guided transluminal drainage in Slovenia. The technique appears to be effective for well-encapsulated intra-abdominal abscesses larger than 4 cm in direct contact with the intestinal wall of the left colon.

Summary: The role of microbiologic testing of purulence from perianal abscesses is disputed and the knowledge concerning bacteriology and bacterial resistances is very limited. This retrospective cohort study found that knowledge about individual bacteriology is relevant in cases of complex and severe local disease.
