Summary: The implementation of a prenatal expedited partner therapy program did not affect the rate of chlamydia reinfection before delivery. Treatment of chlamydia in an inner-city population has multiple factors that lead to successful treatment.

Summary: Most youth in the study felt that helping their partners get treatment was important, even though they were not familiar with EPT. Despite a lack of awareness about EPT, the majority of participants supported the policy.

Summary: Women of childbearing age are disproportionately affected by sexually transmitted infections (STIs), but expedited partner therapy (EPT) can effectively treat the sexual partners of patients diagnosed with STIs. However, there are barriers to implementing this therapy, such as lack of clinician knowledge and lack of standardization of prescription. This quality-improvement initiative aimed to improve appropriate EPT prescription at a single clinic in Connecticut.

Summary: Implementing a prenatal Breastfeeding Toolkit, including facilitating peer counselor referral, was associated with increases in provider counseling, participants' breastfeeding intentions, and uptake of peer counselors. Replicating this approach may reinforce efforts to support breastfeeding in similar practices serving women with lower incomes.

Summary: The study explored the implementation of the Postpartum Intrauterine Device (PPIUD) Initiative in Sri Lanka, which aimed to train healthcare providers on counseling women about contraception during routine antenatal care and immediately inserting PPIUD following delivery. Findings indicated that while providers were willing to adopt the intervention and emphasized the importance of postpartum family planning, there were inconsistencies in implementation, including provider bias in counseling and lack of attention to women's preferences. Organizational barriers included time constraints and inadequate training, with suggestions for training more paramedical staff to mitigate barriers and facilitate scaling up the intervention.

Summary: This study assessed the impact of a best practice alert (BPA) on expedited partner therapy (EPT) and chlamydial reinfection. The results showed that the BPA did not significantly increase EPT prescription or decrease chlamydial reinfection rates. However, patients given EPT were more likely to receive a test for chlamydia reinfection.

Summary: This study examines the openness of college students to online counseling compared to face-to-face counseling, specifically in relation to intimate partner violence (IPV). The results show that IPV survivors are less open to online counseling, while female, LGBT, and those with physical health issues are more likely to be open to it.

Summary: Bio-organic hybrid self-assemblies with tumor environment-responsive and light-triggered NO release properties are fabricated. These self-assemblies show boosted antitumor activity by sequential energy consumption, NO attack, and immune activation, offering a new pathway to address the low cure rate of malignant tumors.

Summary: This study utilized key informant interviews to design and conduct a survey investigating the knowledge and utilization of expedited partner therapy (EPT) among healthcare providers in Minnesota, as well as identifying barriers and facilitators to EPT. The findings revealed low awareness and utilization of EPT among providers, highlighting the need for improved provider education to increase EPT provision.

Summary: In recent years, there has been significant growth in the development of photothermal agents for photothermal therapy (PTT) in eradicating solid tumors. However, the effectiveness of PTT is hindered by challenges such as tumor thermotolerance, which can lead to inflammation, damage to normal organs, and tumor recurrence. This review explores innovative strategies to enhance PTT at mild temperatures, focusing on the apoptotic pathway. It also discusses recent advances in regulating heat shock proteins expression, autophagy level, free radical generation, and organelle targeting to overcome tumor thermotolerance, as well as combining mild-temperature PTT with other therapies for a superadditive effect. The review concludes with a discussion on the scientific and technical challenges of mild-temperature PTT for clinical translation.

Summary: An electrogenerative dressing (EGD) is developed by integrating triboelectric nanogenerators with negative-pressure wound therapy (NPWT). EGD converts negative-pressure-induced mechanical deformation into electricity, generating a stable and high-safety endogenous electric field (EF) that promotes epithelial electrotactic response and macrophage phenotype transition. EGD therapy reshapes the weakened wound EF, accelerates wound closure, and advances tissue remodeling with mature epithelium and less scar formation.
