Summary: Photoredox catalysis has gained significant attention for synthesizing fine chemicals and active pharmaceutical ingredients. However, heat management in photochemical reactors is hindered by the photon and heat generation from light sources. In this study, a strategy to decouple photon and heat using light guide plate (LGP) technology was proposed, leading to the design of a continuous light-diffusing photochemical reactor (LDPR). The LDPR effectively manages heat by distributing the photons emitted by the light source uniformly on the LGP, isolating heat generation from the reaction zone.

Summary: We demonstrate visible-light-mediated carbon-heteroatom cross-coupling reactions using a photoactive Ni(II) precatalyst. The activation of this precatalyst involves an initial intraligand charge transfer event triggered by visible light irradiation. Additionally, a porous, recyclable organic polymer for heterogeneous nickel catalysis of cross-coupling reactions is obtained through ligand polymerization.

Summary: A simple Rh-based catalyst has been developed for the carbene transfer reaction of methyl diazoacetate (MDA) and various substrates under heterogeneous flow conditions. Two different methods for heterogenizing the catalyst in a column reactor have been successfully applied. The catalyst exhibited high activity and selectivity for functionalizing different X-H (X=O, S, Si, CH2) bonds and for cyclopropenation under mild continuous flow conditions. Catalyst recycling experiments showed that up to 5 catalytic cycles could be achieved for the carbene O-H insertion reaction, and a sequential transformation of different substrates with up to 10 consecutive runs per reactor was achieved without any loss in catalytic activity, allowing the production of compound families.

Summary: Efficient catalytic methods for trifluoromethylation of (hetero)arenes play a crucial role in the production of organic and pharmaceutical compounds. Current protocols often rely on toxic reagents and expensive or difficult-to-handle catalysts. Carbon nitride, a non-toxic photocatalyst prepared from inexpensive precursors, offers a promising alternative. However, the relationship between physicochemical properties of carbon nitride and its catalytic performance remains poorly understood.

Summary: The challenges of light-dependent biocatalytic transformations of lipophilic substrates in aqueous media are addressed through continuous flow reactions. The immobilization of the catalyst on a carrier or using a homogeneous system is determined by the photostability of the catalyst. Homogeneous conditions in the CvFAP-catalyzed photodecarboxylation of palmitic acid achieved a high space-time yield, demonstrating the advantage of continuous flow for photobiocatalytic processes.

Summary: The application of heterogeneous catalysts in continuous-flow enantioselective hydroacylation reactions was studied. Catalysts were prepared by mixing supports and rhodium complexes, and showed excellent activity and enantioselectivity. Under optimized conditions, the catalysts exhibited high turnover numbers and could be applied to various substrates. Furthermore, sequential-flow reactions with other heterogeneous catalysts were demonstrated for the synthesis of biologically active molecules and functional materials.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy of pan-EGFR inhibitors in KRAS mutant NSCLC cell lines. The results showed that allitinib was more effective than afatinib in NSCLC cell lines. KRAS mutations increased aggressive behavior and affected cell function through upregulation of the focal adhesion-PI3K-Akt-mTOR signaling. Everolimus could restore sensitivity to EGFR inhibitors in KRAS mutant NSCLC cell lines.
