Summary: This study investigates the role of STAT3 isoforms in the transition from acute kidney injury (AKI) to chronic kidney disease (CKD). The researchers found that STAT3 activation is associated with AKI progression and STAT3 alpha may play a significant role. Inhibition of STAT3 can attenuate tubular damage, inflammation, and fibrosis in AKI models. The study suggests that STAT3 inhibitors may be a novel strategy for the management of AKI.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the beneficial functions of STAT3/NF-?B decoy ODNs in LPS-induced atherosclerosis in mice. The results showed that STAT3/NF-?B decoy ODNs were able to suppress the development of atherosclerosis by attenuating morphological changes and inflammation in atherosclerotic mice aortae, and by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokine secretion through inhibition of the STAT3/NF-?B pathway.

Summary: Cardiac hypertrophy is a compensatory response to chronic pressure overload, and excessive angiotensin II plays a significant role in inducing cardiac hypertrophy. Previous studies have shown that STAT5, a member of the STATs family, is closely linked to non-tumor diseases, but its specific role in hypertrophy progression remains unclear. In this study, STAT5-IN-1, a STAT5 inhibitor, was administered to mice and H9c2s cells were used as cell models to investigate the effects of STAT5-IN-1 on cardiac hypertrophy induced by angiotensin II. The findings demonstrated that STAT5 inhibitor substantially decreased cardiac hypertrophy by reducing inflammation.

Summary: This study investigated the anti-inflammatory effects of ethyl lithospermate in LPS-stimulated macrophages and zebrafish, and found that it can inhibit the release of inflammatory cytokines, suppress the activation of NF-κB and STAT3 signal pathways, reduce inflammation-related cell infiltration and neutrophil migration, and improve survival rate of zebrafish.

Summary: This study investigates the pathological changes of retinal structure, expression of JAK-STAT signaling pathway proteins, and apoptosis at different time points after retinal ischemia reperfusion injury in rats. The study finds that the JAK-STAT signaling pathway plays a vital role in RIRI, with dynamic changes observed over time, and identifies a peak in apoptosis at 24 hours after RIRI, suggesting a potential therapeutic direction and time window for treating this condition.

Summary: This study investigates the protective effect of RIPC against I/R injury and its relationship with JAK2/STAT3 pathway and cell cycle regulators. The results show that RIPC can reduce the infarct volume, improve neurological function, and increase neuronal survival by inhibiting the activation of JAK2/STAT3 pathway and regulating cell cycle regulators.

Summary: In this study, the anti-inflammatory activity of baicalin on ankylosing spondylitis (AS) pathogenesis-related cells was investigated. Baicalin effectively inhibited the expression of inflammatory cytokines and suppressed the nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-kappa B) and Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK/STAT) signalling pathways. Furthermore, baicalin induced autophagy, which contributed to the suppression of inflammation.

Summary: Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a primary malignant liver tumor with a poor prognosis, characterized by neoplastic transformation of intrahepatic biliary epithelial cells. Signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) is an important oncogene that may serve as a target for ICC treatment. Further research is needed to improve understanding of STAT3 and its role in ICC development.
