Summary: Sacrococcygeal teratomas in adults are extremely rare, and most cases are benign. However, a small percentage can transform into malignant tumors. It is difficult to detect this condition in the early stages, and imaging techniques like computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are crucial for accurate diagnosis and treatment selection.

Summary: This study comprehensively analyzed 37 studies involving 1116 patients and found that Sacrococcygeal teratoma (SCT) has long-term effects on bladder/bowel function, especially in malignant tumors and patients requiring reoperation(s).

Summary: This multicenter study aimed to evaluate the management and outcomes of sacrococcygeal teratoma in Egypt. Favorable outcomes were achieved in the majority of patients, but some experienced urological or bowel dysfunctions that required medical and surgical treatment.

Summary: Sacrococcygeal teratomas (SCT) are a rare entity, occurring in approximately 1 of every 35,000 to 40,000 births. Although it remains the most common extragonadal germ cell tumor, type IV SCT represents less than 10% of those. The diagnosis is challenging, as the initial presentation has been described as chronic pelvic pain, rectal mass and mild to severe urinary symptoms. Urinary obstruction is a rare initial presentation, described in the literature only three times. Here in, we present a rare case of type IV SCT with a complete urinary obstruction as an initial symptom.

Summary: This study investigated the MRI findings of fetal abdominal or sacrococcygeal teratomas and parasitic fetuses and analyzed the outcomes based on follow-up assessments. The MRI data of 60 cases were examined, and the results were compared with prenatal diagnoses. The study found that MRI has a high accuracy rate in diagnosing fetal sacrococcygeal teratomas and parasitic fetuses, and the prognosis is generally good.

Summary: This case report describes a rare combination of anal canal duplication with sacrococcygeal teratoma in a 3-year-old female child. The duplicated tract was found to originate from a presacral mass, which was completely excised along with coccygectomy.

Summary: Sacrococcygeal teratoma (SCT) is a rare neoplastic tumor in adults, but common in newborns. Most SCTs are benign and cystic, with a small percentage showing malignant transformation. Females have a higher incidence of SCT. Diagnosis is often incidental during radiographic studies due to the asymptomatic nature of cystic teratomas. Surgical excision is the main treatment, with both open and laparoscopic procedures being efficient. Histopathologic examination confirms the diagnosis.

Summary: We present a new technique for immediate reconstruction of giant sacrococcygeal teratomas (GSCTs) that involves buried dermal-fat flaps and a low transverse scar in the infragluteal fold. Our technique allows for wide exposure of the tumor for resection, while also placing scars in anatomical locations and restoring aesthetic appearance of the buttock region.

Summary: The study aims to evaluate the relationship between social continence and patient-centered outcomes, such as quality of life, in children with sacrococcygeal teratoma (SCT). The results showed a correlation between social continence, quality of life, and the impact on family in children with SCT. This suggests that improving continence in children with SCT may also improve patient-centered metrics.

Summary: Sacrococcygeal teratoma (SCT) is the most common neoplasm in neonates, with four types classified based on anatomical extent. Type IV, the least common, is confined to the pelvic area. We present a case of a one-year-old girl with acute urinary retention due to bladder displacement by Type IV SCT.

Summary: This study analyzed data from 15 children with malignant sacrococcygeal germ cell tumors (MSGCTs) in Taiwan. Some patients were found to have sacrococcygeal tumors present at birth. All patients presented with a bulging mass at the buttock region and normal alpha-fetoprotein levels. The main treatment approach was primary excision of the tumor.

Summary: An alternative technique of Cesarean section to immediate resection (CSIR) for managing high-risk sacrococcygeal teratomas (SCTs) was reported. The study found that this method can effectively reduce the risk of ex-utero intrapartum treatment procedures and achieve a 100% survival rate for patients.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the cosmetic outcomes of midline reconstruction in patients undergoing surgery for sacrococcygeal teratoma. The study included 32 patients, of which 24 underwent posterior approach with midline reconstruction. The results showed that midline reconstruction produced a cosmetically favorable outcome.
