Summary: This article first outlines the systematization of critical theory of society in contemporary context, despite the unpromising academic conditions currently. However, there is still a tantalizing potential for establishing a distinctive critical theory of society. The core framework of critical theory is outlined, with ongoing disagreements on the significance of the linguistic turn and context-transcendent versus context-immanent modes of theorizing. Building on the general framework, suggestions are made for the inspiration provided by the contemporary democratic focus, aiming for a more explicit, modern articulation that incorporates the theoretical and social changes that have occurred since the first generation.

Summary: Epistemic planning combines automated planning with cognitive concepts such as knowledge and belief. Single-agent epistemic planning deals with how an agent moves from its current knowledge state to a desired one. Multi-agent epistemic planning extends this to consider the knowledge states of other agents, including higher-order knowledge. Both types of planning are important in various AI applications and require integrating different sub-areas of AI research. The importance of epistemic planning is reflected in its relevance to mobile service robots, game playing, human-robot interaction, and other areas. Rating: 9 out of 10.
