Summary: Heyde's syndrome is a rare systemic disease in older adults, characterized by aortic stenosis, angiodysplasia with bleeding, and acquired von Willebrand syndrome. There are currently no established guidelines for managing the condition, but further studies may change the approach to treatment. Increasing awareness and suspicion of the syndrome can improve diagnostic potential.

Summary: Heyde's syndrome is a multisystem disorder characterized by the association between calcified aortic stenosis, gastrointestinal tract bleeding from arteriovenous malformations, and acquired von Willebrand syndrome. The prevalence and management of Heyde's syndrome remain controversial. Our review provides a unique case to highlight the diagnosis and management of Heyde's syndrome, as well as briefly describing the prevalence, etiology, diagnosis, and management of calcific aortic valve disease in general.

Summary: This study retrospectively investigated 312 patients with gastrointestinal angiodysplasia. The results showed that iron treatment alone is more effective than somatostatin analogs in recovering from gastrointestinal angiodysplasia and can save a significant amount of medical costs. It is suggested to perform device-assisted enteroscopy on patients with ongoing bleeding, perform lesion ablation using a coagulation method, and provide iron supplementation.

Summary: Heyde syndrome is a rare disease characterized by aortic stenosis, anemia due to angiodysplasia-related bleeding, and von Willebrand syndrome type 2A. Treatment modalities include symptomatic management, blood transfusions, aortic valve replacement, and medications like octreotide.

Summary: The occurrence of bleeding gastrointestinal angioectasia in elderly patients with degenerative calcific aortic stenosis, known as Heyde's syndrome, is a challenging clinical scenario. Heyde's syndrome is mainly caused by the loss of high-molecular-weight von Willebrand factor (HMW vWF) multimers due to their fragmentation passing through the stenosed aortic valve, resulting in acquired von Willebrand syndrome type IIA. Aortic valve replacement has been shown to be a more effective management approach for cessation of recurrent episodes of gastrointestinal bleeding, and a high index of suspicion is needed when dealing with elderly patients with established aortic stenosis presenting with iron deficiency anemia or unclear gastrointestinal bleeding. Collaboration between different specialties is essential for appropriate management.

Summary: Clinicians should be aware of the atypical presentation of Heyde's syndrome and the limited accuracy of diagnostic examinations. In this case, a patient's gastrointestinal bleeding was not completely cured through surgery, but was eventually stopped after transcatheter aortic valve implantation. Therefore, aortic valve replacement may be an effective treatment for Heyde's syndrome.

Summary: Valvular heart disease may increase the risk of rebleeding after deep enteroscopy in uremic patients with obscure gastrointestinal bleeding (OGIB). Uremic patients with angiodysplasia-related bleeding are more likely to experience rebleeding compared to those with alternative causes.

Summary: In this study, a segmentation network based on deep learning was proposed for segmenting and recognizing angiodysplasia lesions, which provides an efficient and feasible method for diagnosing such lesions. The test results showed satisfactory results in terms of pixel accuracy, mean intersection over union, negative predictive value, and positive predictive value.

Summary: This article reports two cases of Heyde's syndrome treated successfully for anemia by percutaneous aortic valve replacement. Iron deficiency anemia and aortic stenosis are commonly associated in the elderly, and the correct diagnosis of Heyde's syndrome is crucial for deciding whether to treat valve stenosis.

Summary: This study describes the signalment, clinical features, and diagnostic characteristics of dogs with gastrointestinal angiodysplasia (AGD) diagnosed by video capsule endoscopy (VCE). The results indicate that AGD is rare in dogs; however, it should be considered in dogs with suspected gastrointestinal bleeding after negative conventional endoscopy or surgical exploration. VCE appears to be a sensitive test for identifying AGD within the gastrointestinal tract.

Summary: Heyde's syndrome is a condition where elderly patients with severe calcific aortic stenosis (AS) experience angio-dysplastic gastrointestinal bleeding, resulting in anemia. Although less familiar, its incidence is increasing alongside the rising geriatric population. It has also been associated with other cardiovascular conditions.

Summary: Recent advancements in endoscopic technology have revolutionized the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, improving patient outcomes and quality of life. While robotics have enhanced maneuverability and treatment capability for endoscopists, further developments are needed to address technical limitations and create more sophisticated instruments. Innovative robotic systems are being developed to eventually facilitate minimally invasive robotic surgery across various clinical fields for lower patient risk.
