Summary: This tutorial review discusses the translation from batch-mode ball-milling to flow-mode reactive extrusion using twin-screw extrusion. Mechanochemistry has been established as a powerful approach in sustainable organic synthesis, mainly due to the opportunities offered in solvent-free or highly solvent-minimized reaction systems. However, limitations in scale-up still exist.

Summary: The study demonstrates that iodosobenzene can serve as a convenient and controlled precursor of the oxidant hypobromite under the right conditions. Water acts as a cocatalyst in the generation of hypobromite, which is shown to be a more powerful oxidant than iodosobenzene in alcohol oxidation. The findings provide a clear rationale for the experimental observations on the effectiveness of halide additives in the oxidation process.

Summary: Bi(N)-HVIs, a newly emerging class of I(V) reagents, demonstrate favorable safety profiles, improved solubility, and comparable to superior oxidative reactivity compared to common I(V) reagents. By incorporating datively bound bidentate nitrogen ligands, these reagents provide a novel and convenient screening platform for the development of I(V) reagents and reactions.

Summary: o-Iodoxybenzoic acid (IBX) and Dess-Martinperiodinane (DMP) are effective in converting thiol to thiosulfonate at room temperature. DMP shows superior reaction rate, conversion, and equivalents compared to IBX. IBX oxidation of benzyl thiols results in thiosulfonates, while DMP produces O-benzylesters. The one-pot conversion of a thiol to an ester is unprecedented and holds potential for functional group transformations.

Summary: By utilizing the oxidation reaction between 2-iodoylbenzoic acid (IBX) and tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB), thiophenols and thiols were rapidly converted into corresponding thiosulfonates at room temperature, yielding 11 thiosulfonates with a range of 54% to 83%. The catalytic system in the presence of aqueous HCl (w=36%) and HBr (w=46%) was also effective in oxidatively halogenating thiophenols and thiols, resulting in 11 types of sulfonyl chlorides and 11 types of sulfonyl bromides, with yields ranging from 62% to 84%. This method offers advantages such as simplicity, efficiency, straightforward post-treatment, the use of environmentally friendly oxidants and solvents, and mild reaction conditions. All products were confirmed by 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy.
