Summary: This study explored and evaluated the reporting of ethical review decisions and considerations in health professions education research articles. The findings showed that most articles mentioned ethical review board assessments, but the reporting of key ethical considerations was limited. Therefore, it is important for the research community to pay attention to and clearly describe ethical considerations for assessing the ethical soundness of research.

Summary: Objective randomized controlled trials play a crucial role in the research and advancement of medical treatment. A cross-sectional study was conducted to analyze the completeness of intervention reporting using the TIDieR checklist in obesity research. The study found that while some areas of intervention reporting are good, improvements are needed in aspects such as providing information on intervention providers' expertise and background.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the importance of imaging and imaging specialists in publications in non-imaging journals. All English indexed articles on the Embase database between 1989 and 2019 were extracted to determine the number and affiliation of authors. A naive Bayesian classifier algorithm was used to classify abstracts as imaging or non-imaging. The main outcomes were the number and position of imaging specialists in the authorship of imaging articles published in non-imaging journals.

Summary: This study investigated whether observational studies showing favorable results for antidepressants on suicidal behavior are more likely to be published in psychiatric journals and cited more often. The study found that studies with favorable results were more frequently published in psychiatric journals and were often conducted by authors with conflicts of interest. This may create a biased evidence base within psychiatry.

Summary: This study assessed the reliability of preprint citations in COVID-19 articles and found that more than a quarter of the citations were inappropriate, as the preprints were already published at the time of citing with different content. Authors and editors should verify the accuracy of preprint citations and quotations before publishing articles that cite them.

Summary: This study found that both self-rated and objective smartphone use decrease linearly with age, while problematic smartphone use is relatively high in young adults before rapidly declining around age 40. People are reasonably good at estimating their smartphone use, although they tend to underestimate it. Technology concern is high across all age groups, but is unrelated to both amount of usage and problematic smartphone use.

Summary: This study evaluates the proper use of the term diagnostic yield and its related parameters in articles published in Radiology and Korean Journal of Radiology (KJR). The results show that a minority of articles accurately used diagnostic yield or detection rate, and the incorrect usage of the terms was more frequent without improvement over time in KJR compared to Radiology.

Summary: Race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status (SES) were infrequently reported and analyzed in articles published in two top orthopaedic journals. This problem may be remedied if orthopaedic journals impose standards for the reporting and analysis of patient demographics in studies with human cohorts.

By asking peer reviewers to check specific reporting guideline items, this study aimed to improve adherence to reporting guidelines in published articles. However, the results of two randomized trials did not support the effectiveness of this intervention.

Summary: Multinomial logistic regression models are used to predict the risk of a categorical outcome with more than two categories. Researchers need to ensure that the number of participants is appropriate relative to the number of events and predictor variables for each category. This study proposes three criteria to determine the minimum required sample size, aiming to minimize overfitting, difference between observed and adjusted R-2 Nagelkerke, and ensure accurate estimation of overall risk. The criteria were evaluated through simulation study and applied to a worked example, with code provided for implementation in R and Stata.

Summary: This study assessed the trends in cardiovascular risk factor control and drug therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus from 2007 to 2018. The study found improvements in blood pressure and lipid control, but an insufficient achievement of glycemic targets. The use of antidiabetic and cardiovascular drugs increased, but the proportion of patients achieving all three targets remained low and plateaued after 2013.

Summary: The aim of this study was to assess the acceptability and feasibility of offering risk-based breast cancer screening and its integration into regular clinical practice. The study found that women had a positive attitude towards adjusting screening frequency based on individual risk, with higher-risk women being more willing to participate. However, there was lower acceptance of low-intensity screening for lower-risk women. Participants also had limited knowledge about the benefits and harms of breast screening.

Summary: This study aimed to assess how the inclusion of frailty contributes to identifying and characterizing multimorbidity patterns in people aged 65 years or older. The results suggest that frailty should be considered when studying multimorbidity patterns in older adults. This helps in tailoring social and health care to the specific needs of older people.

Summary: This study examined the dynamics of multimorbidity and frailty as individuals age and their associations with health-related outcomes. The findings revealed that frailty increases significantly with age and is characterized by disability and symptoms rather than diseases. Concurrent diseases contribute more to mortality, while frailty-related deficits are associated with the need for specialized care.

The research found that older adults experience decreasing stability and shorter permanence time within one multimorbidity pattern as they age.
