This article describes a new plant species, Verbascum ali-nihatii A. Duran sp. nova, discovered in the Sadagi Canyon in western Anatolia, Turkey. It is morphologically similar to Verbascum levanticum but differs in various aspects, including stem height, basal leaves, corolla, filament, capsule, and indumentum. SEM photographs of the pollen and seed features are provided. Based on IUCN criteria and categories, the new species is assessed as Endangered.
Verbascum ali-nihatii A. Duran sp. nova (Scrophulariaceae) is described from the Sadagi Canyon (Bursa Province) in western Anatolia, Turkey. It is morphologically similar to V. levanticum but differs from it by having taller stems and different basal leaves, corolla, filament, capsule and indumentum. SEM photographs of pollen and seed features are provided. Following IUCN criteria and categories, the new species is assessed as Endangered.
