Summary: This article summarizes the impact of coping strategies on the quality of life of colorectal cancer patients. The results suggest that coping strategies can help patients adapt and overcome the stress caused by the disease. For elderly patients, learning coping strategies may improve their quality of life after cancer diagnosis. However, more research is needed to validate this hypothesis, as there is limited randomized evidence available.

Summary: This study found that poor quality of life is prevalent in patients with heart failure. Perceived stress and acceptance-resignation are important mediating factors between uncertainty in illness and mental quality of life in these patients. Interventions aimed at reducing perceived stress and acceptance-resignation coping may be beneficial for improving mental quality of life in patients with heart failure.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the prevalence and methods of CAM use in breast cancer and gynecological cancer patients, compare CAM users vs. non-CAM users regarding their sociodemographic and medical characteristics, and investigate the relationship between CAM use and QoL. The results showed that 46.5% of the patients used some form of CAM, and CAM use was higher in breast cancer patients. CAM users were younger, more educated, and financially better off, but had a lower global health status/QoL.

Summary: This study investigated the mediation/moderation effect between Coping Behaviors (CBs) and Sense of Coherence (SOC) in predicting health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in breast cancer patients. The results showed that SOC partially mediated the effect of CBs on HRQoL, and the effects of certain coping behaviors were significant at lower SOC levels but diminished at higher SOC levels. Practitioners are encouraged to incorporate adaptive coping behaviors such as positive reframing and use of emotional support, along with SOC, into rehabilitation programs to enhance HRQoL in patients.

Summary: This study investigated the relationships between stress, coping strategies, and quality of life among gynecologic cancer survivors. Stress was found to be a predictor of quality of life, with acceptance acting as a mediator in this relationship. Tailored programs that foster coping strategies, such as acceptance, should be developed to reduce stress and maintain quality of life in this vulnerable group.

Summary: The breast cancer stigma has a negative impact on the health-related quality of life of patients. General resilience resources, such as sense of coherence, social support, and coping skills, are believed to alleviate this effect. This study aims to explore the mediating/moderation role of these resources in the relationship between stigma and quality of life.
