Summary: The study found that sustained adrenergic stimulation by norepinephrine has significant effects on ovarian cancer initiation and progression, particularly affecting ovarian surface epithelial cells and fallopian tube cells differently. Mutations in the p53 gene also influence the cellular response to NE stimulation.

Summary: The study investigated the expression patterns of immortalized corneal epithelial cells with different genetic modifications, showing that SV40 immortalized cells had a distinct expression pattern from wild-type cells regardless of serum presence, while corneal epithelial cells with combinatorial expression had a pattern closer to that of wild-type cells.

Summary: Research has shown that under SIV infection, intestinal epithelial regeneration decreases, certain cell types increase, and differentially expressed genes in important pathways are downregulated. Despite the lack of significant reduction in stem cell population, dysregulation of intestinal stem cell niche factors, presence of inflammatory factors, and loss of epithelial barrier function, suggest that SIV infection impacts epithelial cell proliferation and intestinal homeostasis.

Summary: This study found that subchondral bone mesenchymal stromal cells in osteoarthritis are capable of producing extracellular vesicles (EVs) that enhance chondrocyte viability and the expression of chondrogenic genes. miRNA profiling revealed distinct microRNA sets in OA-EVs, suggesting their potential role in mediating cross-talk between subchondral bone and cartilage in osteoarthritis.

Summary: In this study, researchers successfully established an immortalized cell line (BIECs-21) from primary bovine intestinal epithelial cells by transfecting them with a pCI-neo-hTERT recombinant plasmid. The immortalized cell line exhibited similar structure and function as the primary cells, making it a valuable tool for investigating pathogen infection mechanisms in bovine intestinal epithelium in vitro.

Summary: In an imaging-based screen of >3,300 compounds, Soboleva et al identify HDAC inhibitors as mediators of erythroid cell enucleation. They further show that the erythroid-specific cell membrane protein, SPTA1, is downregulated in HDAC inhibited cells and that restoration of SPTA1 expression using CRISPR-activation partially rescues the fragility of cells, improving enucleation efficiency.

Summary: Innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) play important roles in maintaining and protecting peripheral tissues but decrease over time. Regulating the movement of ILC progenitors in the bone marrow can counteract the decrease in peripheral ILCs. Sinusoid ILC progenitors migrate from the bone marrow to the peripheral blood, while parenchyma ILC progenitors are more likely to be in the cell cycle and less likely to migrate outside of the bone marrow. The movement of bone marrow ILC progenitors is controlled internally and externally.

Summary: This study aimed to screen and validate biomarkers of ovarian cancer-initiating cells to investigate the recurrence mechanisms of epithelial ovarian cancer. Through proteomics technology, candidate protein CDC50A was identified and validated with significantly differential expression in SP cells, showing characteristics of cancer-initiating cells and correlation with tumor metastasis and clinical prognosis.

Summary: A simple method was developed to generate immature oligodendrocyte lineage cells from mouse ESC-derived neural stem cells, which showed potential for differentiation into mature OPC under specific conditions. Interestingly, these cells retained multipotentiality and could differentiate into neurons or astrocytes. However, their efficiency in myelinating axons was lower compared to primary OPC.

Summary: Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) can originate from either fallopian tube epithelial (FTE) or ovarian surface epithelial (OSE) cells, but they exhibit different latencies and disease outcomes. Single cell RNA-sequencing revealed that FTE secretory stem/progenitor cells resemble mammary luminal progenitors, while OSE cells resemble basal cells. Additionally, an FT stromal subpopulation may serve as a niche for FTE cells, while Lgr5(+) OSE cells may self-sustain as their own niche. The differences in intrinsic expression programs and niche organizations of FTE and OSE cells may contribute to the development of EOCs.

Summary: The aim of this study was to establish and characterize an immortalized chicken intestinal epithelial cell line to study host-pathogen interactions in poultry. This cell line was established by transducing the SV40 large-T antigen into primary chicken enterocytes. The immortalized cells exhibited characteristics of mature enterocytes and were able to generate a proper immune response to parasitic and bacterial stimulation.
