Summary: Gender differences play a significant role in hypertension epidemiology, with clear disparities in prevalence, awareness, treatment, and control between different age groups of men and women, mainly influenced by hormonal status. In high cardiovascular risk European countries like Romania, gender gaps in hypertension prevalence may decrease over time, with females expected to maintain higher awareness and treatment rates than males, while an upward trend in blood pressure control is predicted only for women.

Summary: The study found differences in hypertension awareness, treatment, and control levels between ethnic minority populations (EMPs) and European host populations (EHPs). African origin populations were more likely to be aware and treated for hypertension, but less likely to have their blood pressure controlled. South Asian populations were more likely to be aware of hypertension, but had similar treatment and control rates compared to EHPs.

Summary: The study found that over a quarter of Chinese adults have hypertension, but only about one-fifth have their blood pressure under control, indicating low levels of hypertension awareness, treatment, and control in China. Factors associated with higher hypertension treatment include older age, urban residency, living in the Eastern region, and being overweight/obese, while hypertension awareness is also linked to being female. Poor hypertension control, on the other hand, is associated with being overweight/obese and belonging to a minority ethnicity.

Summary: This study examined the socioeconomic inequality in prevalence, awareness, treatment, and control of hypertension in Iran. It found that individuals with low socioeconomic status had higher prevalence of hypertension, but treatment and control were more concentrated among those with higher socioeconomic status.

Summary: The study found that hypertension control in the United States plateaued from 2009 to 2010, then declined from 2015 to 2018. Despite unchanged access to healthcare, awareness, treatment, and treatment effectiveness for hypertension all decreased. Hypertension control fell across different age and race-ethnicity groups.

Summary: From 2009 to 2016, the prevalence of hypertension substantially increased in rural southwestern China, with awareness and control rates also rising. Individuals with higher education levels had higher awareness and control rates, but there were no significant differences in improvement among different education levels. Both awareness and control rates increased in individuals with high income, while only awareness rate increased in individuals with low income. Additionally, the prevalence and treatment of hypertension were higher in the Han people compared to ethnic minorities.

Summary: This study found a high prevalence of high blood pressure among young Chinese female migrant workers, with a majority being unaware of their condition. Factors associated with high blood pressure included having rural medical insurance, awareness of having HBP, physical inactivity, and being overweight/obese.

Summary: This study analyzed the trends in the prevalence, awareness, treatment, and control of hypertension among Chinese adults from 1991 to 2015 based on the 2018 Chinese Guideline. The results showed a significant increase in hypertension prevalence over the two decades, with slight to moderate improvements in awareness, treatment, and control rates which remained very low. These findings highlight the importance of effective measures to prevent and control hypertension among Chinese adults.

Summary: The prevalence of hypertension among Ngawa Tibetans in China was 24.6%, with awareness rate at 32.3%, treatment rate at 21.7%, and control rate at 6.2%. While awareness and treatment have improved in recent years, the control rate remains low. The government needs to strengthen basic medical care and health education for this population.

Summary: This study aimed to describe the trend in the prevalence, awareness, and treatment of isolated diastolic hypertension (IDH) in the United States from 2001 to 2018. The results showed that the prevalence of IDH decreased from 2001-2002 to 2017-2018, and although there were increases in awareness and treatment, they remained below 50%.

Summary: This study evaluated the prevalence, awareness, treatment, and risk factor control among individuals with high 10-year atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk in Guangzhou, China. The findings showed low awareness rates, inadequate treatment, and suboptimal risk factor control, especially for lipid management, indicating the need for substantial improvement in ASCVD prevention in this population.

Summary: Researchers have designed a scaffold system mimicking the choroid and Bruch's membrane for the treatment of AMD, with elastic moduli similar to the native tissues. Cells attached to the polycaprolactone fibers, remained viable for one week, and proliferated to form a monolayer, making these constructs suitable for testing cell and/or drug treatment strategies for AMD.

Summary: Conducting in-vitro thrombosis research presents challenges due to limited functional shelf-lives of blood products. Fractionating and recombining whole blood can prolong clotting functionality and improve accessibility in thrombosis research. Storage of fractionated whole blood components allows for prolonged usability and formation of clots resembling freshly drawn whole blood.

Summary: There is a need for a more representative in-vitro model to screen thrombolytic therapies. In this study, a flowing clot lysis platform with real-time fibrinolysis monitoring was designed and validated. The platform showed tPA-dependent thrombolysis and can be adapted to produce pulsatile flows, mimicking hemodynamics of human main pulmonary artery. These findings suggest that the platform offers a versatile testing platform for thrombolytic drug screening.
