Summary: This article investigates the versatile use of an unsymmetrical diborane(4) derivative as a precursor for PBP boryl pincer ligand for the synthesis of Co(I), Rh(I) and Ir(I/III) complexes. The coordination chemistry of a homologous series of PBP pincer complexes, particularly the interconversion of five- and four-coordinate complexes, is studied in detail.

Summary: This study investigated the stability and transformation process of the diphosphino-boryl-based PBP pincer platform in the presence of water, revealing that the PBP pincer backbone can easily be converted into a POP backbone. By analyzing the crystal structures of the resulting palladium complexes, possible pathways for pincer backbone transformation were discussed.

Summary: In this study, the synthesis and characterization of two iridium pincer monocarbonyl complexes with Yamashita's PBP boryl ligand are reported. These complexes were tested as precatalysts for the catalytic dehydrocoupling of amine boranes, and one of them showed selective production of polyaminoboranes. A tetrahydride complex was also identified as the resting state of catalysis.

Summary: The study demonstrates selective C-H activation in the 2-position of pyridine and quinoline with Rh and Ir complexes, resulting in a 2-pyridyl bridging the transition metal and the boron center. Different ligands on the transition metal lead to isomerism derived from the 2-pyridyl fragment connecting via B-N/C-M or B-C/N-M bonds. The strength of the M-C(pyridyl) bond and the nature of the ligand trans to it play key roles in determining the relative M-C/M-N isomer favorability.

Summary: In this study, we report the oxidative addition reaction of a hydroborane ligand with two low-valent Ir(I) precursors to form Ir(III) hydride complexes with a bidentate boryl/phosphine ligand. One cationic iridium complex easily replaces a THE and 1,5-COD supporting ligand by hydrogenation, yielding a stable Ir(III) eta(6)-benzene complex. The coordination of arene sheds light on the possible poisoning effects of arenes in catalytic reactions.

Summary: The protolysis of AlMe3 or AlBu3i with 2-diisopropylphosphinopyrrole yields molecules containing phosphine ligands and central Al-Me, Al-Bu-i, or Al-H units. Subsequent reactions with Rh or Ir result in new complexes with Al-Cl and M-Me bonds. The detailed study of these reactions provides valuable insights into the bonding and mechanism of hydrogen addition.

Summary: A diamino dialkoyx diborane(4) with additional P donor moieties was obtained by the reaction of a copper(I) boryl complex and a borane. This compound reacted with copper(I) tert-butoxide and [Pt(P(iPr)3)2] to form novel bis-mu-boryl di-copper(I) complex and trans-bis-boryl platinum(II) complex, respectively.

Summary: In this contribution, uranium complexes with a pendant borate or borane moiety were synthesized and investigated. Complexes 3 and 4, bearing a pendant borane group, represent the first examples of uranium complexes with a pendant borane Lewis acid. The study showed that complex 3 is capable of CO activation and abnormal CO 1,2-insertion reaction, highlighting the importance of the pendant borane moiety.

Summary: The formation of van der Waals hetero-bilayers has been shown to improve the performance of 2D nanomaterials for next-generation photocatalysts. This study used first-principles calculations to investigate the electronic and optical properties of tetragonal transition metal chalcogenide hetero-bilayers. It was found that these hetero-bilayers exhibit enhanced optical absorption and band characteristics favorable for reducing carrier recombination, making them promising candidates for high-performance photocatalysts.

Summary: In this work, a theoretical study on a series of two-dimensional tetragonal transition metal chalcogenide monolayers is reported. The study reveals that several of these monolayers exhibit semiconductor behavior, with CdX monolayers demonstrating higher efficiency in sunlight harvesting compared to ZnX monolayers. Additionally, a series of tetragonal KnMX monolayers with moderate band gaps are identified. The electronic transport properties of these monolayers were also investigated. The findings suggest that these novel tetragonal transition metal chalcogenide monolayers have great potential in nanoscale devices, energy storage, and conversion applications.

Summary: In this study, various ultrathin transition metals (Fe, Cu, Co, Mn, and Ni) doped MoS2 nanosheets were prepared by a facile in situ hydrothermal method. Among them, the Co-doped MoS2 nanosheets exhibited the highest peroxidase-like catalytic activity. Furthermore, a colorimetric assay based on Co-MoS2 was developed for the detection of H2O2 with excellent tolerance and a broad linear range.
