This review summarizes the recent advances and applications of stretchable photodetectors based on 2D materials. It provides insights into the techniques for developing stretchability, photodetection mechanisms, and assembly methodologies of 2D materials. The review discusses the key characteristics of photodetectors, recent developments in stretchable photodetectors, and basic applications using novel 2D materials. Additionally, the review explores the outlook and challenges for stretchable photodetectors based on 2D materials.
Rapidly evolving two-dimensional (2D) materials such as transition metal-dichalcogenides (TMDCs) and gra-phene, offer tremendous electrical and optical properties. Owing to these outstanding properties, these have achieved a huge interest in the developments of optoelectronic devices. 2D materials have played an indis-pensable role specifically in the fabrication of stretchable photodetectors. Numerous 2D materials based stretchable photodetectors reported till date are summarized and discussed here. This review emphases on the techniques used for the development of stretchable photodetectors, recent advances in 2D materials based stretchable photodetectors and their worthy applications which provide a broad view of this research eras. First, a brief insight is provided concerning the techniques for the development of stretchability, photodetection mechanism and methodologies in the directions of assembly of 2D material for stretchable photodetectors. After that, key characteristics of photodetectors, recent developments of stretchable photodetectors and basic appli-cations of stretchable photodetectors based on novel 2D materials is reviewed. Finally, outlook and challenges for stretchable photodetectors based on 2D materials are discussed. Furthermore, this review may assist in devel-oping new insights in favour of additional developments and practical applications of stretchable photodetectors based on 2D materials.
